Teach biomedical sciences, supervise student projects, and assess coursework for undergraduate and postgraduate programs in a university setting.

The University of Manchester is seeking a Teaching Associate to join the teaching team in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health. This is an exciting opportunity to take part in a range of on-campus undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, project supervision and assessment roles including on our MSc in Cardiovascular Health and Disease, years 1 and 2 of the MBChB/BDS programmes and the biomedical programmes hosted by the School of Biological Sciences. This is an ideal post for developing your teaching experience for future academic job applications.

Interviews will be held in early September.

You will be responsible for:

  • Delivery of small group teaching – for example problem and teams based learning, tutorials.
  • Literature review and academic poster supervision and assessment.
  • Supervision and assessment of undergraduate research projects.
  • Admissions interviewing.
  • Providing pastoral support.

About You

Essential Criteria

  • Have, or be about to obtain a PhD in a biomedical science or related discipline
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly to a range of audiences
  • Ability to engage and motivate learners
  • Experience of delivering, supervising or supporting teaching or research projects
  • Ability to carry out on-campus teaching

Desirable Criteria

  • Background in cardiovascular sciences
  • Associate Fellowship of HEA
