Your Opportunity

Environmental Services is seeking a Team Leader based in our Fredericton, New Brunswick office to help lead, grow, and manage the Site Investigation and Remediation Team currently comprising 8-10 professionals.. You will report directly to the Business Center Operations Leader (BCOL) and work closely with the Business Centre Practice Leaders (BCPLs) in Atlantic Canada. The Team Lead is an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team , using leadership and management skills to mentor and grow a highly capable and motivated team, while ensuring we provide results that go above and beyond the client’s expectations.

Your Key Responsibilities

At Stantec your responsibilities will be split into two broad categories.

Team Lead Responsibilities\:

• Promote a healthy environment and safety culture in the team and across the organization
• Ensure team members are adhering to quality standards and protocols
• Promote collaboration with all team members within the Atlantic Canada Environmental Services Business Centre and other Stantec Business Centre’s throughout Canada
• Identify exciting and challenging work and opportunities for team members
• Understand your team’s workload and complete short-term and long-term forecasting of known work and potential opportunities
• Supervise junior staff and support/contribute to their career development
• Manage staff utilization to ensure team members are working to capacity and meeting targets while maintaining a healthy work-life balance
• Work with staff to ensure nonchargeable time is valuable (eg. Proposal support, business development, training)
• Lead or participate in the recruitment and hiring of new staff including identifying candidates, reviewing resumes, and participating in interviews
• Work with senior leadership to attract, grow and retain quality staff
• Work with Technical Leads to evaluate the performance of training plans and implementation of field standard operating procedures
• Act as a mentor and coach to team members
• Provide feedback on work performance, both formally and informally
• Identify training needs for team members and opportunities for cross training with other disciplines
• Encourage involvement in community and professional organizations

Proposal and Project Responsibilities\:

• Develop, monitor and manage proposals, work plans, budgets, project files and project schedules
• Provide appropriate environmental/engineering input and a technical overview to project activities residing within or outside the project team (locally, regionally, or nationally) where relevant
• Prepare technical environmental reports, conduct and/or lead field work, and manage existing and new projects
• Participate in marketing and business development activities and initiatives, contribute to cost estimates of projects in collaboration with other disciplines
• Ensure that the deliverables provided to the project are technically accurate, within scope, budget, and schedule, suitable for the intended purpose and in compliance with quality procedures and project plans
• Interface with other departments, project managers, team members, clients, sub-consultants, and vendors during all phases of projects to ensure a good working interface and accurate exchange of technical data
• Collaborate and coordinate with project teams to determine and achieve project objectives
• Participate and/or lead regular project meetings
