Team Lead (Platform Backend Team)

We are a proprietary algorithmic trading firm. Our team manages the full trading cycle, from software development to creating and coding strategies and algorithms. The firm trades across a broad range of asset classes, including equities, equity derivatives, options, commodity futures, rates futures, etc. We employ a diverse and growing array of algorithmic trading strategies, utilizing both High- and Medium-Frequency Trading approaches.

Job description

We're hiring a Team Lead to run a team of five Rust engineers building middle-office services end-to-end for internal stakeholders. This is a people and process management role first. You own hiring, performance, development, and you translate business goals into engineering priorities.

What you'll do:

• Own the people side of the team. Hire, onboard, run performance reviews, give direct and useful feedback.
• Set priorities and keep the backlog honest.
• Take important initiatives from idea to production and stay close through the first weeks after launch.
• Pull requirements from the people who'll use what you build — traders, compliance, whoever has a stake — and turn them into concrete technical direction.
• Make trade-offs between speed, quality, cost, and flexibility and stand behind them.
• Clear blockers yourself. Go into someone else's area if that's what it takes to ship.

Our expectations

• 3+ years leading engineering teams of four or more. You've run performance cycles, managed scope, and carried delivery.
• Backend engineering background. You can read the architecture, follow technical discussions, and make the right calls with your engineers.
• You judge success by impact on PnL, cost, or risk.
• When requirements are vague or priorities shift, you proactively find the answer.

Nice to have:

• Experience at a mid-size startups.
• Experience owning a team budget: headcount, infrastructure, bonuses, raises.
• Background in Rust, C++, Java, or .NET.
• Experience in trading, fintech, or high-performance systems.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs or AI-assisted development tools.
