As we continue to grow and expand, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Team Leader to join our team. The Team Leader leads and maintains the residential milieu. This is a responsible leader position. The unique job functions outlined are designed with a focus on safety and quality.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Assists in the implementation and follows through the treatment plans.

· Assures that treatment plan protocol is adhered to especially as it relates to special treatment procedures.

· Attend and oversee the shift processing meetings.

· Oversees the day-to-day operation of the unit as it relates to staff.

· Reports unusual situations which may occur on the unit to the Residential Supervisor and Program Directors.

· Assures that the unit is clean and orderly and that all waste is disposed of properly.

· Leads staff and resident activities on and off the unit

· Leads the accurate documentation of incident reports.

-Monitors’ performance of staff supervised and responsible for the administration of their duties.

-Provides prompt and objective coaching and counseling.

_Assures timely performance appraisals of staff supervised.

· Participates in staff development and in-service training activities to increase his/her job knowledge.

· Assists in the maintenance of time records as it relates to the manpower budget.

· Assists in the hiring process of Residential Counselors I, II and III.

· Responsible for accurate and timely supervision of time and attendance, which includes serving as attendance officer.

· Ensuring leave slips are completed and submitted in a timely manner.

· Monitoring of time punches, including early/late punches breaks or inappropriate punches.

· May be required to administer prescription and/or over the counter medications.

· Responsible for being on call except when on vacation. Will also be responsible for maintaining coverage and may be required to work in coverage to maintain the ratio, except when on vacation.


Competencies

The Team Leader must demonstrate competence in the following areas:

  • Leadership & Supervision: Ability to lead, coach, and support direct care staff while maintaining accountability and team collaboration.
  • Behavior Management: Knowledge of youth behavior management techniques and ability to implement behavior intervention plans.
  • Crisis Intervention: Ability to safely respond to behavioral crises using de-escalation and approved intervention techniques.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with staff, youth, and leadership.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Ensures accurate documentation and adherence to organizational policies, licensing, and regulatory requirements.
  • Trauma-Informed Care: Demonstrates understanding of trauma and applies supportive, youth-centered approaches.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to make sound decisions, resolve conflicts, and maintain a safe and structured environment.
