Team Leader - Data Analytics
We are seeking a highly capable Team Leader – Data Analytics (P4) to lead and manage the Data Analytics function within the UK&I Transport & Infrastructure PMO GCC.
The role is responsible for delivering high-quality, scalable, and data-driven analytics solutions across data engineering, visualisation, reporting, automation, and advanced analytics, enabling effective decision-making across project controls, programme performance, portfolio governance, and strategic leadership reporting.
This is a dual leadership role requiring both strong technical expertise and effective people leadership. The successful candidate will lead a team of data analytics professionals, drive reporting standardisation, champion digital innovation, and work closely with Head -T&I PMO, PMO Leads and UK stakeholders to continuously streamline, optimise, and enhance reporting and insights across projects.
1. Team Leadership & People Management
- Lead, manage, and develop a high-performing team of Data Analytics professionals within the GCC.
- Provide day-to-day leadership across analytics delivery, team priorities, and performance outcomes.
- Drive resource planning, workload allocation, and delivery prioritisation across multiple concurrent projects and PMO initiatives.
- Recruit, onboard, mentor, and retain talent aligned to business growth and capability requirements.
- Conduct performance reviews, set development goals, and implement structured upskilling plans for team members.
- Foster a strong “one-team” culture across GCC and UK / onshore stakeholders, promoting collaboration, accountability, and shared success.
- Build sustainable team capability in reporting, automation, analytics, and digital PMO solutions.
2. Reporting Standardisation & Scalable Delivery
- Define and implement a standardised reporting solutions across projects and portfolios which are scalable, efficient, and aligned to PMO governance standards.
- Work in consultation with PMO Leads in GCC and UK stakeholders to align project reporting requirements to the appropriate maturity level.
- Standardise key dashboards, templates, KPIs, and reporting approaches to support consistency across the portfolio.
- Drive adoption of common data models and structured reporting approaches across teams.
3. Analytics Delivery & Governance
- Oversee end-to-end analytics delivery, including: Data ingestion, Data transformation and modelling, Validation and QA/QC, Dashboard development and reporting, Insight generation and stakeholder presentation
- Ensure all outputs meet expected standards for quality, consistency, governance, auditability, and repeatability.
- Establish and maintain QA/QC frameworks, delivery checklists, KPI libraries, and reporting standards.
- Create structured operating models for analytics delivery, including templates, SOPs, naming conventions, and version control.
- Drive lessons learned and continuous improvement across analytics delivery processes.
4. Dashboarding, Visualisation & Reporting
- Lead the design and development of Power BI dashboards and interactive reporting solutions to support:
- Project controls performance
- Programme and portfolio reporting
- Cost and commercial insights
- Risk and issue visibility
- Resource utilisation and team performance
- Leadership and business review reporting
- Ensure dashboards are intuitive, executive-friendly, and tailored to stakeholder needs.
- Support standardisation of reporting outputs across tools such as Power BI, Excel, and other approved visualisation platforms.
- Improve visibility and decision-making through automated, real-time, or near real-time reporting where appropriate.
5. Automation & Power Platform Enablement
- Drive adoption of Power Platform solutions to streamline PMO and project reporting processes, including:
- Power BI for analytics and visualisation
- Power Automate for workflow and process automation
- Power Apps for digital forms, data capture, and process enablement
- Identify repetitive manual processes and convert them into efficient automated solutions.
- Design integrated workflows connecting project data, approvals, alerts, and reporting outputs.
- Promote a digital-first approach to reporting, governance, and information management.
- Propose and implement practical automation solutions that improve efficiency, control, and user experience.
6. Technical Analytics, Data Engineering & Advanced Insights
- Build and maintain integrated data models across multiple systems and data sources, such as SharePoint, ERP / finance systems, Project controls tools.
- Promote use of advanced Excel, Power Query, DAX, SQL, Python, and modern data engineering practices where appropriate.
- Explore opportunities to apply advanced analytics, AI/ML, GenAI, and automation to improve efficiency and insight generation.
- Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable, business-relevant insights for PMO, project, and leadership stakeholders.
7. PMO, Project Controls & Business Integration
- Work closely with PMO Leads, Project Controls teams, Commercial teams, and Delivery stakeholders to align analytics outputs with business and project needs.
- Ensure reporting supports visibility across Cost, Schedule, Risk, Commercial performance, Resource and delivery metrics
- Integrate analytics outputs with project controls and PMO processes to strengthen governance and decision-making.
- Support alignment of reporting with project and portfolio performance frameworks.
- Enable joined-up reporting across PMO, controls, commercial, and operational functions.
8. Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Act as the primary analytics SPOC for collaboration between GCC and UK stakeholders on reporting and analytics requirements.
- Partner with PMO leadership, Project Directors, Project Managers, and functional leads to understand evolving reporting needs.
- Present insights through governance forums, showcases, leadership reviews, and stakeholder meetings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, Finance, Risk, Commercial, and Project Controls to deliver integrated solutions.
- Build trusted relationships and position the GCC analytics team as a value-adding strategic partner.
9. Strategy, Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Drive the analytics capability roadmap for the PMO GCC, aligned to business needs and digital strategy.
- Continuously review current ways of working and identify opportunities to streamline, optimise, and improve reporting and analytics delivery.
- Stay up to date with the latest developments in analytics, Power Platform, automation, AI, and emerging technology, and translate relevant advancements into practical solutions for projects and PMO teams.
- Introduce new tools, methods, and innovations to improve reporting maturity and operational efficiency.
- Support knowledge management and reusable solution development across the analytics function.
- Define and track service performance metrics, team KPIs, and adoption measures.
10. Capability Building & Training
- Build a sustainable and continuously improving analytics capability within GCC.
- Develop structured training and development plans such as Power Platform, PMO reporting standards and KPI design etc.
- Promote data literacy and dashboard adoption across PMO and project teams.
Ensure the analytics team remains technically current and aligned to evolving business and technology requirements.
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Analytics, Information Systems, or related discipline.
- 8–12 years of experience in Data Analytics / BI / PMO Reporting / Project Controls Analytics / Management Information roles.
- Proven team management experience leading and managing Data Analytics professionals, including workload allocation, mentoring, performance management, structured upskilling, and delivery governance.
- Strong hands-on experience in Power Platform, SQL and other reporting and automation solutions.
- Hands-on experience with Python for data analysis, automation, or advanced analytics use cases.
- Strong experience designing and delivering reporting solutions in PMO / project controls / infrastructure / engineering environments.
- Experience working in a GCC / offshore / shared services / UK–India delivery model.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into scalable analytics solutions.
Desirable
- Experience in Transport & Infrastructure sectors, such as Rail, Roads, Civils, Water, or multidisciplinary infrastructure programmes.
- Knowledge of Earned Value Analysis (EVA/EVM), project controls methodologies, and performance management frameworks.
- Familiarity with Primavera P6, cost/commercial datasets, and project delivery reporting systems.
- Exposure to ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, or similar enterprise systems.
- Experience with cloud or modern data platforms, such as Azure, AWS, Databricks, ADF, or equivalent.
- Exposure to additional BI / analytics tools such as Tableau, Qlik, or similar.
- Understanding of AI / ML / GenAI applications for analytics, automation, or reporting use cases.
- Relevant professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, Agile / Scrum, or equivalent.
