Tech Lead – Frontend Platform Team
You will provide technical leadership for the frontend platform, define its architecture and standards, and guide technical direction. You will lead delivery, modernization, testing, CI/CD, operational reliability, and cross-functional platform integration while coaching engineers and communicating technical trade-offs.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for the frontend platform, defining architecture, coding standards, and long-term technical direction.
- Coach, mentor, and manage approximately eight developers.
- Partner with other Tech Leads to ensure architectural alignment, consistent standards, and unified decision-making.
- Oversee planning and execution of platform features and improvements.
- Drive modernization, refactoring, and performance enhancements.
- Establish and enforce engineering best practices for coding, documentation, testing, and reviews.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and platform teams.
- Ensure automated test coverage and reliable CI/CD workflows.
- Leverage automation and AI-assisted tooling to accelerate development and improve consistency.
- Own incident response, root-cause analysis, and long-term reliability improvements.
- Advocate for scalability, performance, security, and observability.
- Identify technical risks, estimate complexity, and communicate trade-offs.
- Align with engineering teams on shared services, APIs, rendering pipelines, and platform interfaces.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software development experience with modern frontend engineering at scale.
- At least 3 years in a similar Tech Lead role.
- Hands-on knowledge of React, including component architecture, SSR patterns, RSC, and complex UI data flows.
- Proficiency with Node.js and MongoDB.
- Understanding of modern styling systems, theming approaches, vanilla-extract, styled-components, and design tokens.
- TypeScript practices, including strict typing, shared contracts, and schema validation with Zod or equivalent.
- Experience with Module Federation.
- Understanding of bundling and compilation with webpack, Rollup, Vite, or esbuild.
- Experience with Vitest or Jest and end-to-end testing with Playwright or Cypress.
- Understanding of backend integration patterns, including REST, GraphQL, and RPC-style APIs.
- Experience with CI/CD workflows, GitLab CI or similar, private registries, and secure artifact handling.
- Ability to lead engineers, own architectural decisions, and manage delivery for complex platform projects.
