Tech Lead (Full-stack E-commerce)
Summary
Tech lead for a ~7-person dedicated pod in VINOVA's Hanoi office, working 100% for an overseas retail e-commerce client as an extension of their team. Owns architecture, code reviews, upgrades and incident recovery for a headless e-commerce site and in-store tool built on Next.js/React, Magento 2, Laravel and AWS.
Title: Tech Lead, Full-stack E-commerce (dedicated team)
Location: Hanoi, office-based (at most one remote day per week, on company-managed devices)
Contract: Full-time,100% allocated to one overseas retail e-commerce client
Summary: Lead a dedicated engineering pod of about 7 (2 Back End, 2 Front End, plus QC, DevOps and BA) working as an extension of the client’s technology team. Own architecture and code quality across a headless e-commerce website and an in-store sales tool. Work daily with the client’s own Project Manager and tech stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Own architecture and technical decisions for a headless e-commerce site and an in-store ordering tool that share integrations and an AWS environment.
- Run code reviews and set coding standards for the pod.
- Plan and lead version upgrades and technical-debt audits.
- Diagnose hotfixes and lead production incident recovery.
- Design and review integrations (ERP, payments, search and personalization, email marketing, product feeds).
- Apply multi-brand, multi-country business rules (for example, different deposit rules per market).
- Keep delivery on two-week sprints, with accurate estimates and Jira and Confluence discipline.
- Mentor engineers and take part in selecting and testing candidates with the client.
- Follow the client’s security standards: named accounts, MFA, least privilege, no credentials in code or chat, no local copies of production data.
Required skills (must-have)
- Next.js and React for headless front ends, with static-generation caching.
- Magento 2 (open source, PHP) as a back end, including API and pricing, cart and order logic.
- Laravel (PHP), with experience moving a front end from Blade to Vue.
- AWS architecture: ECS, Lambda and serverless direction, IAM.
- REST API design and ERP and payment integrations.
- CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes basics, monitoring (for example Datadog).
- Professional spoken and written English, tested in interview, for daily client communication.
Experience threshold: 8+ years of experiences, including 3+ years as a tech lead. Paid production experience only, not training or side projects.
Acceptable deviation: 6–7 years in total with 2+ years leading, only if there is proof of delivering a production headless Magento 2 or comparable platform and owning AWS architecture.
Preferred: Contentful or another headless CMS; Magento certification; experience with Australian or other overseas clients; retail and e-commerce domain; Datadog.
