Tech Strategy Lead

We’re looking for a Tech Strategy Lead to join our team in London Kings Cross. This hybrid role offers flexibility, with three days in the office and two days working remotely.

We're looking for a Technology Strategy Lead to define and drive the technology vision that will support Blume's next phase of growth. Reporting directly into senior leadership, this is a high-impact individual contributor role for an experienced strategist who influences through expertise, insight, and credibility rather than direct line management.

Acting as a trusted advisor to the executive team, you'll translate market trends, emerging technologies, and AI-driven innovation into clear, actionable strategies that create business value and align stakeholders across the organisation. You'll combine long-term strategic thinking with a hands-on approach, conducting analysis, building compelling business cases, and shaping transformational initiatives from concept through to delivery.

The role will also play a key part in strategic transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, ensuring technology strategy supports business growth, integration activities, and wider transformation objectives. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future direction of a growing technology-led organisation.

What will you be doing?

  • Develop and drive Blume's long-term technology strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with business growth objectives and priorities.
  • Identify emerging technology trends, particularly AI and machine learning, translating opportunities and risks into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Partner with Ventures and Innovation teams to evaluate, trial, and scale new technologies and proof-of-concepts.
  • Conduct market, competitor, and partnership analysis to inform strategic decisions, including build vs. buy, investment, and sourcing strategies.
  • Produce compelling executive briefings, board papers, and presentations that influence decision-making and align stakeholders around a shared vision.
  • Facilitate strategic discussions, providing data-driven insights and recommendations to support executive leadership decisions.
  • Collaborate with teams across Technology, Product, Finance, Operations, and Corporate Strategy to ensure technology initiatives deliver measurable business value.
  • Support technology investment planning, business cases, supplier negotiations, and resource allocation, ensuring investments align with strategic objectives and growth ambitions.
  • Play a key role in transformation programmes, mergers and acquisitions, helping shape technology strategy to support business growth and integration activities.

We tend to look for people with:

Essential:

  • Significant experience developing and shaping technology strategy within corporate strategy, management consulting, technology leadership, product strategy, or a similar environment.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders by creating clear, actionable technology strategies that drive business decisions and outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of emerging technologies, particularly AI, with the ability to assess market relevance, maturity, opportunities, and risks.
  • Excellent strategic thinking and analytical skills, capable of turning complex information into clear recommendations and business value.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences at all levels.
  • Demonstrated success operating in a senior individual contributor role, influencing stakeholders and driving alignment without direct authority.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, growing organisations, with the adaptability and commercial mindset this requires.

Desirable

  • Experience working within hybrid delivery models, including onshore, offshore, and nearshore teams.
  • Exposure to mergers and acquisitions, including technology due diligence, integration planning, and transformation activities.
  • Previous experience within a leading strategy consultancy or in-house strategy function.
  • Technical experience earlier in your career that provides a strong foundation for technology evaluation and decision-making.
  • Experience developing AI strategies or assessing AI-related investments, partnerships, and opportunities.
  • Knowledge of the technology, software, digital services, or adjacent sectors.
  • Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline, with an MBA or postgraduate qualification being advantageous.

What’s in it for you?

  • Competitive salary + Bonus
  • 25 days annual leave + buy 5 days
  • Access to wellbeing and mental health benefits such as the Calm app, personal medical, critical illness cover and dental insurance, plus many more.
  • Matched pension contribution up to 10%
  • Life assurance & income protection
  • Exclusive Virgin Media O2 products, employee discounts and cashback offers on thousands of brands
  • Access to electric car scheme
  • 24 hours paid volunteering leave
