We are looking to hire a Technical Application Engineer, Robotics to support our ESAB Canada Region.
The Technical Advanced Technology Solutions Manager, Canada is responsible for leading the successful deployment, application, service, and support of the ATS portfolio across Canada. This role serves as the primary technical interface between customers, channel partners, integrators, and internal teams, ensuring customers achieve maximum value from their ATS portfolio investments.
The position combines technical leadership, customer engagement, application engineering, aftermarket support, and service coordination to drive customer success throughout the entire solution lifecycle. Key industries include agricultural equipment, construction equipment, automotive, metal fabrication, heavy manufacturing and cladding.
The Advanced Technical Solutions Manager works closely with major end users, partners, and internal stakeholders to develop application strategies, manage technical projects, resolve complex operational challenges, and identify opportunities for system optimization, upgrades, and continuous improvement. The Technical ATS Canada reports to the Commercial ATS Canada.
Primary Responsibilities
Technical Applications & Solution Development
- Lead the technical assessment, application development, and implementation of robotic and digital manufacturing solutions throughout Canada.
- Develop and validate application concepts that address customer production, quality, safety, and operational requirements.
- Support customer evaluations, proof-of-concept activities, feasibility studies, and technical demonstrations.
- Provide expertise on the full ATS technologies.
- Collaborate with commercial, engineering, product management, and regional teams to deliver optimized customer solutions.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, retrofit solutions, and technology adoption.
Service & Customer Support Leadership
- Act as the primary escalation point for technical service and support issues across Mexico.
- Coordinate troubleshooting activities and corrective actions with service teams, integrators, and customers.
- Drive resolution of complex technical issues while minimizing customer downtime.
- Monitor service performance, customer satisfaction, and support metrics to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Develop and execute customer support plans for strategic accounts and key installations.
- Promote preventative maintenance, lifecycle management, software updates, and aftermarket support programs.
Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, integrators, distributors, and strategic partners.
- Provide technical guidance and consultative support throughout the customer journey.
- Conduct regular customer reviews to identify performance improvement opportunities and future business needs.
- Collect and communicate customer feedback, technical requirements, and market insights to internal teams.
- Support training initiatives to improve customer utilization and adoption of RDS solutions.
Project & Implementation Management
- Coordinate installation, commissioning, startup, and acceptance activities for robotic and digital solutions.
- Manage technical project execution in collaboration with sales, engineering, service, and partner organizations.
- Ensure projects are completed according to scope, quality standards, schedule, and customer expectations.
- Support project risk assessment and mitigation planning.
- Develop documentation, implementation plans, and technical reports as required.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Analyze field performance data and customer feedback to identify improvement opportunities.
- Support development of service offerings, aftermarket programs, and technical support processes.
- Contribute to roadmap planning for upgrades, software enhancements, and retrofit opportunities.
- Stay current on robotics, automation, and digital manufacturing technologies and industry trends.
- Lead special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, Automation, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in robotics, industrial automation, applications engineering, technical service, or customer support.
- Experience supporting industrial robotic systems and manufacturing automation solutions.
- Strong understanding of robotic welding, material handling, assembly automation, and digital manufacturing technologies.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical and operational issues.
- Strong project management and customer-facing skills.
- Experience working with OEMs, system integrators, distributors, and manufacturing customers.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in both technical and business environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Dynamics CRM, Power BI, and project management tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- English and Spanish language proficiency required.

Working Conditions
- Combination of office, manufacturing, customer-site environments and home-office.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required when visiting manufacturing facilities.
- Frequent use of computers, diagnostic tools, and technical equipment.
- Ability to occasionally lift or move equipment and tooling as required.
- Exposure to varying manufacturing and environmental conditions during customer visits.
- Domestic travel throughout Canada approximately 60-70%.
- Occasional international travel within North America to support customer projects, training, and regional initiatives.
