Technical Business Analyst

Open 33d

Project description

We're looking for a Business Analyst who's equally comfortable wearing a light Project Manager hat. You'll translate business needs into clear requirements, keep the Book of Work current in Azure DevOps (epics/features/stories), run day-to-day delivery rituals, and consolidate status across multiple initiatives into crisp, executive-ready updates. You'll bring strong financial-data domain understanding and enough technical literacy to partner with data engineers—without needing to be the one writing complex code.

Responsibilities

  • Business Analysis: - Elicit, document, and prioritize requirements with stakeholders across Front, Middle/Back Office, and Technology. - Convert conceptual ideas or Excel prototypes into clear user stories with acceptance criteria and process/data flow diagrams. - Validate solutions through test scenarios and UAT coordination; ensure traceability from requirements to outcomes.
  • Project / Delivery Management: - Own the Azure DevOps hygiene: structure epics/features/stories, maintain the roadmap and Book of Work, and ensure status is up to date. - Facilitate delivery ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives); unblock teams and drive decisions. - Manage dependencies, and escalate risks/issues with options and impacts and provide estimates of resource capacity - Prepare weekly and adhoc status reports across initiatives—clear milestones, progress, risks, and next steps. - Align cross-team deliverables (data providers, platforms, consuming applications) to timelines and success criteria.
  • Documentation & Governance: - Keep process maps, data dictionaries, and operating procedures current. - Promote best practices in change control, versioning, and requirement traceability.

SKILLS

Must have

  • Education: Bachelors degree or higher in IT or Finance or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in Business Analysis similar roles
  • Technical Expertise: o SQL skills o Familiarity with ETL tools, processes, and data warehousing platforms, particularly Databricks. o Familiarity in PySpark (good to have) o Good understanding of data modelling, including dimensional modelling, normalization, and schema design.
  • Agile Methodologies: Comfortable with Agile practices, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Collaboration Tools: Skilled in using Azure DevOps for team collaboration and project management.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have
