Minchin Moore Private Wealth is looking for a Technical Business Analyst to join our Technology & Innovation team. Working closely with our CTO and stakeholders across the business, you'll help turn business challenges into practical technology solutions and see those solutions through from idea to implementation.
About Minchin Moore
Minchin Moore is a Sydney-based wealth advisory firm of around 65 people, providing independent, client-centric financial advice to high-net-worth individuals, families and for-purpose institutions.
Technology is an important part of how we work. Our environment includes Xplan and Microsoft 365, integrations across custody and portfolio platforms, a custom-built internal adviser portal, and a growing range of AI and automation initiatives.
About the opportunity
Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer, you'll be the link between our advisers, operational teams, vendors and technology function.
You'll work with people across the business to understand problems and opportunities, translate these into clear technical requirements, and stay involved through delivery to ensure the solution actually solves the problem.
This is a hands-on role offering exposure across business analysis, technology, process improvement, AI and project delivery.
What you'll be doing
You'll:
Work directly with the CTO to help prioritise and deliver the IT roadmap and ad hoc projects
Partner with stakeholders across advice, operations and support teams to understand business problems, workflows and pain points
Act as the link between the business and technology team throughout project delivery, clarifying requirements, resolving ambiguity and helping maintain appropriate scope
Translate business needs into clear, structured requirements, including user stories, process maps and functional specifications
Map current and future-state processes and identify opportunities for technology and automation to reduce manual effort
Support testing and validation of new features against the original business requirements before rollout
Document decisions, processes and requirements so knowledge is effectively shared
Help drive adoption by training and supporting staff as new technology, tools and workflows are introduced.
What you'll bring
We're looking for someone early in their career who combines structured thinking and strong communication with genuine technical capability and curiosity.
You'll need:
A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Commerce or a related discipline
0–3 years' experience in a business analyst, systems analyst or similar hybrid business/technology role
Technical literacy sufficient to understand software development design patterns and confidently direct AI coding agents from day one
Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders
Genuine curiosity about how systems and processes work, and the ability to ask the right questions to uncover the real requirement
Structured thinking and the ability to turn a vague problem into clear requirements and a workable plan
The ability to work effectively within a small, fast-moving technology team and adapt as priorities shift
A collaborative, pragmatic approach and a genuine interest in improving how a business works.
It would be great if you also have
Experience building or integrating AI solutions would be a real advantage, whether that's through LLM APIs, AI-assisted workflows or automation tooling.
Other useful experience includes:
Exposure to financial advice or wealth management
Process mapping, user stories or requirements tools
Agile project delivery
Docker, Node.js, AWS or SQL
AI coding agents and prompt engineering.
