Technical Business Analyst
Description
Technical Business Analyst (Business Improvement)
A hands-on analysis role at the centre of a business improvement programme, connecting operational teams with technical delivery, based in Belfast on a hybrid basis, paying up to £50,000.
About the Company
Our client is a growing technology and telecoms business that builds and runs the infrastructure behind modern connectivity. As they've grown, they've put real investment into how the business runs internally. A dedicated Business Improvement team now focuses on smoother operations, a better customer experience and more efficient systems. This role is being added to give that team stronger technical analysis.
The Role
You'll find out how the business really works: how processes run, how data moves between systems and where things slow down or break. You'll then shape practical improvements. That means running workshops with senior stakeholders, turning what you learn into clear requirements and specifications, and working day to day with a small development team to see changes through to delivery. Projects run under both Agile and Waterfall, so you'll adapt your approach to suit the work.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse business functions, processes, data structures and information flows to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Lead workshops with senior stakeholders to draw out and agree business needs.
- Capture and document functional and non-functional requirements in a form development teams can build from.
- Produce core analysis documentation, including Business Requirements Documents, functional specifications, process flows and test plans.
- Investigate operational issues, get to the root cause and recommend solutions.
- Work with the development team throughout delivery, clarifying requirements and supporting testing.
- Manage assigned workstreams and track progress against project plans.
- Support proof-of-concept and prototyping work to test ideas before full delivery.
What You'll Need
- Substantial experience as a Business Analyst, ideally in a technical or systems-focused setting, is essential, and the single most important thing we are looking for.
- A proven ability to gather, analyse and document functional and non-functional requirements is essential.
- Experience producing BRDs, functional specifications and test plans is essential.
- A working knowledge of data modelling, data objects, class diagrams and information flows is essential.
- Confidence running workshops and gathering requirements from senior stakeholders is essential.
- Experience delivering in both Agile and Waterfall environments is essential.
- Experience managing workstreams and tracking delivery against a plan is highly advantageous.
- A recognised Business Analysis or Systems Analysis qualification is highly advantageous.
- Telecoms sector experience is a strong advantage.
- Experience using Jira is desirable.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 document control processes is desirable.
- Experience with proof-of-concept or prototyping exercises is desirable.
Why Apply?
- Your work will directly change how a growing business operates, with results you can see across the organisation.
- You'll have regular exposure to senior stakeholders and real influence over improvement priorities.
- You'll work closely with a small development team, so your analysis turns into delivered change quickly.
- The salary is up to £50,000, plus private healthcare.
- You'll work hybrid from Belfast, with flexible working arrangements.
- Investment in professional development and a clear route for career progression.
