Technical Business Analyst
Summary
Partner with engineering, program, and risk/compliance teams to translate complex business, regulatory, and operational requirements into clear technical requirements for fintech systems (data platforms, integrations, risk tools) in an Agile environment.
JOB OVERVIEW
Plan A Technologies is looking for an experienced Technical Business Analyst (TBA). In this role, you will partner closely with engineering, program, and risk/compliance teams to translate complex business, regulatory, and operational requirements into clear, actionable technical requirements. This role sits within the program management team and ensures solutions are well-defined, compliant, testable, and ready for delivery in an Agile environment.
Please note: you must have at least 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Technical BA to be considered for this role.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY
Requirements & Analysis
Elicit, analyze, and document business and technical requirements for fintech systems (data platforms, integrations, risk tools).
Translate business needs into: User stories, Functional & non-functional requirements, and Data mappings and business rules.
Define clear acceptance criteria aligned with regulatory and operational needs.
Identify gaps, edge cases, and downstream impacts early.
Agile Delivery Support
Own story readiness for sprint planning (Definition of Ready).
Partner to refine backlog, break down epics into executable stories, and support prioritization with risk and dependency insight.
Participate in sprint ceremonies: grooming, planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
Support developers during implementation by clarifying requirements and decisions.
Technical & Data Analysis
Analyze APIs, data flows, and system integrations.
Support data migration, transformation, and validation efforts.
Create and maintain: data mapping documents, interface specifications, and process flows and sequence diagrams.
Collaborate with QA to ensure test coverage aligns with requirements.
Risk, Compliance & Controls (Fintech Focus)
Ensure requirements align with: Regulatory obligations, internal risk and control frameworks, and audit and compliance standards.
Identify risks, assumptions, and dependencies.
Support documentation needed for audits, exams, and go-live approvals.
Act as a bridge between: Engineering, Program, Risk & Compliance, and Operations.
Facilitate requirement workshops and working sessions.
Communicate trade-offs and impacts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Technical BA.
Strong experience working with development teams in Agile/Scrum.
Proven ability to write clear, unambiguous requirements and acceptance criteria.
Experience with APIs and integrations, Data analysis and mapping, and SDLC and Agile delivery.
Familiarity with fintech or regulated environments.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
Initiative and drive to do great things.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in financial services, fintech, or banking.
Exposure to Data migrations, Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), and Salesforce or similar enterprise platforms.
Experience supporting regulatory or audit initiatives.
SQL or data querying skills (read-only is sufficient).
Tools & Technologies: Jira / Confluence, Agile delivery tools, Data mapping & diagramming tools (Lucidchart). SQL or reporting tools (nice to have).
