About the Role

Are you a highly technical Business Systems Analyst who enjoys solving complex business and technology challenges?

We are looking for a Technical Business Systems Analyst who can effectively bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams. This role is ideal for someone who started their career in a technical function such as Software Development, Systems Development, Data Engineering, Quality Assurance, or Application Support before transitioning into Business Analysis.

This is a technical-first BA role (60% technical, 40% business) where you will collaborate closely with software engineers, data teams, QA professionals, project managers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality software, integration, data, and resource planning solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Business & Systems Analysis

• Gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements.

• Translate business needs into functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, and business rules.

• Develop process flow diagrams, data flow diagrams (DFDs), ERDs, workflow diagrams, and system documentation.

• Facilitate discussions between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure alignment and successful delivery.

Technical Analysis & Solution Design

• Perform data analysis, SQL validation, root cause investigations, and system troubleshooting.

• Analyze APIs, application integrations, JSON payloads, database schemas, and system dependencies.

• Review technical documentation, application logs, and business requirements to identify issues and opportunities for improvement.

• Create wireframes, mockups, and workflow prototypes to support solution design.

Quality Assurance & Testing

• Develop test plans, test cases, and test scenarios.

• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and coordinate defect management activities.

• Investigate issues, validate fixes, and ensure delivered solutions meet business and technical requirements.

• Collaborate with QA and engineering teams throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

Resource Management & Capacity Planning

• Support resource planning and workforce capacity initiatives across projects and teams.

• Develop and maintain capacity, staffing, workload, utilization, and demand forecasting models.

• Analyze resource allocation, forecast future staffing demands, and identify capacity constraints and risks.

• Collaborate with project managers and business leaders to support strategic workforce planning and resource optimization.

• Recommend solutions for balancing resource demand, project priorities, and team capacity.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Technical Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Systems Analyst, or similar role.

• Strong experience gathering requirements and translating them into technical specifications.

• Solid understanding of relational databases, data modeling, normalization, primary/foreign keys, and data integrity.

• Advanced SQL skills for data validation, analysis, and investigation.

• Experience with APIs, integrations, data transformations, and system dependencies.

• Experience creating process flows, DFDs, ERDs, wireframes, and technical documentation.

• Experience developing test plans, test cases, and supporting UAT activities.

• Ability to interpret JSON payloads, API documentation, application logs, database schemas, and other technical artifacts.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong understanding of resource management principles, capacity planning, and demand forecasting.

• Demonstrated experience building capacity models, staffing models, workload planning models, utilization reports, or demand forecasting solutions.

Additionally preferred:

• Familiarity with Planisware or other Resource Management / Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tools.

• Experience with workforce planning, resource allocation, portfolio planning, or enterprise resource management.

• Experience creating dashboards and reporting for resource utilization, capacity forecasting, and demand management.

• Possess experience supporting resource management, workforce planning, capacity planning, or forecasting initiatives.

• Are comfortable working with both technical and business stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
