Technical Director

As the Technical Director of Fire Protection, you will transform creative ideas into buildable, practical, and innovative solutions. You will lead the technical development of projects, oversee engineering and construction details, and ensure every project is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality. And ensure all systems meet strict commercial building codes, oversee engineering teams, and approve technical designs for high-rises, retail hubs, and industrial complexes.

Working closely with our Managing Director, Design Team, Project Managers, Production Department, and Installation Team, you will play a key role in expanding the capabilities of Access Corp and mentoring the next generation of technical talent.

Core Responsibilities

  • Sprinkler System Design: Review and approve hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, and layout designs for automatic fire sprinkler systems (wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge).
  • Code Compliance: Ensure all commercial designs strictly comply with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards (including NFPA 13, 14, 20, and 25) and local commercial building codes.
  • Project Oversight: Supervise the installation of fire pumps, standpipes, and sprinkler networks from initial layout through final authority testing.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with architects, MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) engineers, and general contractors to resolve spatial conflicts using Autodesk Revit or BIM software.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Act as the primary contact for the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and fire marshals to secure system approvals and permits.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, venue requirements, structural considerations, and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with project managers, production teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and installers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct site surveys, technical meetings, mock-ups, and quality inspections.
  • Resolve technical challenges during fabrication and on-site installation.
  • Improve fabrication processes, construction methods, and workflow efficiency.
  • Support tender submissions with technical proposals, build methodology, and value engineering.
  • Mentor designers and technical team members to raise overall technical capability.
  • Drive continuous improvement in quality, safety, and project delivery standards.

Required Skills& Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering.
  • Certifications: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Fire Protection is highly preferred; NICET Level III or IV certification in Water-Based Systems Layout is required.
  • Experience: 10+ years of engineering experience specifically focused on commercial fire sprinkler systems and fire suppression technology.
  • Technical Proficiency: Mastery of hydraulic calculation software (such as HASS or Hydra CALC) and advanced BIM coordination workflows.
  • Commercial Acumen: Proven experience managing large-scale commercial budgets, procurement of specialized fire pumps, and vendor contracts.
