About the Role

The Technical Director is a cross-departmental position responsible for the daily technical operations throughout Whitaker Center including planning, installation, and maintenance, with a primary focus on Sunoco Performance Theater. This hands-on position encompasses a wide range of tasks, including sound design, basic lighting design and knowledge, and general theatrical maintenance work. Additionally, the Technical Director manages traveling exhibits installation three to four times per year and exhibit maintenance, ensuring that all displays are well-maintained.

An ideal candidate communicates clearly and efficiently, manages multiple productions and events in different phases of completion, and can successfully lead employees to complete their tasks efficiently and safely. A critical aspect of this position is the ability to develop innovative solutions that leverage available resources and emerging technologies to enhance the impact of events and the overall guest experience. Please note that previous exhibits experience is not necessary and in house training will be provided by both the Whitaker team and outside exhibit companies during installation.
