Technical Expert Sr, Engineering, Design

What are your contributions to the team?

• Lead and coordinate A/C level and/or Aerostructures design solutions for systemic Production and in service complex repeat issues.
• Support Structures Design Talent Technical Development through Coaching and mentoring Aerostructures design specialists during the resolution of complex technical issues.
• Support and technically lead Aerostructures Design Teams during the development of Derivative and Clean sheet Aircraft development programs through active participation in all development phases.
• Influence ASIL Knowledge Domain mid and long-term vision; actively participate in change and/or creation of BM Standards.
• Propose and lead the implementation of technical innovations based on knowledge of industry trends through Advanced Design and Strategic Technology.
• Recommend Unit Cost Reduction and new cost-effective engineering solutions through Knowledge Domains and Programs.
• Support new development A/C level architecture and functional modeling through active participation in Technical Peer reviews.
• Collect and disposition Lessons Learned; Share with KD community across all programs.
• Participate and support in Commodity Strategy reviews with Sourcing during cost reduction Initiatives and Make/Buy Trade Studies initiatives.
  
  Technical Competency
• Champion Design for Manufacturing technical solutions to align all stake holders and lead to first time right production line implementation.
• Lead the resolution of complex multi stakeholder repeat issues on aircraft and aerostructure production lines and ensure lessons learned are considered for introduction into BES standards.
• Lead resolution of major Manufacturing issues including Major RNC’s, Major Non-Disclosure.
• Enforce adherence to BES (Bombardier Engineering System) practices and Knowledge Standards to promote product line integrity and consistency. Candidate may perform BES Champion role.
• Research technical developments in the industry to remain aware of innovations that may affect and improve current performance enabling leadership in a competitive landscape.
• Develop cost estimates for business cases and statements of work for technical feasibility studies and initiatives.
• Share Industry and Regulatory Development with ASIL Knowledge Domain.
• Perform Aircraft level trade studies and functional modeling.
• Provide technical guidance to Programs and CARB. Work with the Safety team to support Aircrat Level Safety, Reliability and Security processes.
• Support multi-disciplinary alignment for Triage, CARB and AOG issues when necessary.
• Work with Management on PCR process, cycle times, optimizing solutions.

How to thrive in this role?

• You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering. May have a PHD related directly to a field of expertise.
• You have 20 years or more of relevant experience in Aerostructures Design.
• You have deep experience supporting production lines across multiple Bombardier programs including MRB, Root Cause Investigations, process optimization, tooling, GD&T.
• You have advanced experience in Aircraft Structures Design and Integration on at least 2 or more development programs, expert in one or more areas.
