Technical Information Specialist
Summary
Manages library resources and assists staff with database searches, acquisitions, and training at a military medical center.
This position is located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Department of Graduate Dental and Medical Library in Bethesda, MD. Supports readiness via patient care, education, and research with database access and literature searches. Hours: M-F, 0700-1700. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Serves as an expert on-line bibliographic searcher with substantial acquisition responsibilities.
Acquires monographs, government documents, and other information media through on-line vendor databases.
Administers and implements purchase requests, Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPAs), and deposit accounts for the acquisition of published material.
Provides assistance with document delivery/interlibrary loan using library systems.
Instructs patrons in the use of the library and computerized resources available for public use.
Maintains access to electronic and print resources, including registering and activating new e-resources titles.
Educates library staff and library users on issues associated with electronic resources and monitors their usage.
