The Role - Technical Lead
We are looking for an experienced Technical Lead with strong Backend and Full-Stack engineering expertise to lead the design, development and delivery of scalable, high quality software solutions.
As a Technical Lead at Shine, you’ll be a trusted technical leader, influencing architecture, engineering practices and delivery outcomes. You’ll guide teams through complex challenges, make pragmatic technical decisions, mentor engineers and champion solutions that deliver meaningful customer and business value.
You bring strong product thinking, a passion for engineering excellence and the ability to thrive in complex, evolving environments. At Shine, you’ll work with modern technologies, solve meaningful problems and have the opportunity to shape both the products we build and the teams you influence.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Technical Leadership – Proven experience leading engineering teams, guiding technical decisions, mentoring developers, and driving best practices across software delivery.
- TypeScript & Backend Engineering – Strong hands-on experience building backend systems with TypeScript, acting as a trusted technical advisor on architecture, design decisions and complex problem solving.
- AWS Cloud Expertise – Extensive experience designing, deploying and operating production grade cloud solutions on AWS with a strong understanding of scalable architecture.
- Java & Modern Frameworks – Experience with Java and frameworks such as Spring Boot, Hibernate and related enterprise technologies.
- Software Engineering Excellence – Deep understanding of clean code practices, system design, architecture patterns, continuous improvement, debugging complex systems and delivering solutions end to end.
- AI-Assisted Development – Experience using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, or similar tools to improve developer productivity, code quality and delivery outcomes.
- Consulting & Communication – Strong ability to build trust with clients and stakeholders, communicate technical decisions clearly, simplify complex concepts and navigate ambiguity and change.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- React – Experience with modern front-end development and the ability to guide effective full stack engineering practices.
- SQL & Data Engineering – Strong understanding of relational databases, data modelling, query optimisation and performance tuning.
- Cloud-Native Architecture – Experience designing scalable, resilient and secure cloud-native applications.
- Agile Delivery – Experience working in Agile teams and contributing to effective engineering practices, planning and delivery.
