Technical Manager

Job Description:

Ÿ Lead the Technical Department, ensuring effective resource allocation,team performance, and alignment with safety-critical business priorities, ISMCode, ISPS, MLC, ISO, and TMS requirements.

Ÿ Oversee all aspects of technical ship management, including dry-dockings,repairs, conversions, and vessel performance in cargo, navigation, andmaintenance—ensuring operations meet safety, cost, and compliance expectations.

Ÿ Ensure continuous fleet compliance with Flag, Class, Port State,charterer, and customer requirements; coordinate and follow up on audits,inspections, certifications, and vetting processes.

Ÿ Monitor and manage vessel operating budgets across the fleet; controlcosts, address deviations, support procurement, and approve invoices to ensureefficient financial operations.

Ÿ Act as a Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME), contributing to ManagementReviews, performance indicator tracking, and KPI reporting aligned with strategicand operational goals.

Ÿ Supervise office-based vessel management teams, including Vessel Managers,Superintendents, and Coordinators, providing leadership, coaching, andperformance oversight.

Ÿ Collaborate with the Manning Department on senior officer recruitment,crew rotation planning, performance reviews, and onboard well-being in linewith company standards.

Ÿ Maintain close relationships with vessel owners, charterers, and keystakeholders, ensuring satisfaction, service transparency, and swift resolutionof operational issues.

Ÿ Lead and coordinate emergency response support during vessel incidents;ensure effective team readiness and participation as part of the company’sEmergency Response Team (ERT).

Ÿ Ensure proper integration of newly acquired vessels into the fleet,covering crew deployment, documentation, vessel certification, and operationalonboarding.

Ÿ Promote a strong safety culture, support QHSSE initiatives, and lead byexample to ensure continuous improvement across technical and marine operations.

Ÿ Drive the development, review, and implementation of internal procedures,manuals, and work instructions, ensuring ongoing compliance and processefficiency.

Ÿ Represent the company in owner meetings, inspections, and industryengagements; coordinate internally across departments to support integrated,high-quality fleet operations.

Requirements:

Educationand Qualifications:

Ÿ M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science, or equivalent; Class1 Marine Engineer background preferred.

Work Experience:

Ÿ Higher maritime education and experience as engineer, or similar positionsas Technical Manager.

Ÿ Ideally a proven track record for a minimum of 10 years in a shore-basedshipping company as Fleet Manager will have an advantage.

Ÿ Strong knowledge of ISM Code, ISPS, MLC, SOLAS, MARPOL, Class and vettingrequirements.

Ÿ Proven leadership skills with experience managing vessel operations andmultidisciplinary teams.

Ÿ Experience in vessel budgeting, cost control, and procurement processes.

Ÿ Effective communication skills and ability to coordinate with owners,charterers, and internal departments.

Job-SpecificSkills:

Ÿ Knowledge of quality, environmental, and safety standards and relatedlegislation.

Ÿ Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ÿ Experience in customer management and understanding of regional maritimemarket conditions.

Ÿ Good people management skills.
