Technical Manager (IT Application Team)
We are seeking a highly capable, hands-on Technical Manager to lead our IT Application Team and spearhead the architecture, development, and evolution of our software products. In this role, you will bridge the gap between high-level commercial objectives and technical software execution, taking complete ownership of our application development lifecycle.
Leading a close-knit, agile team of software engineers, you will champion technical excellence, enforce modern engineering practices, and ensure our application ecosystem is secure, stable, and built to scale alongside a rapidly expanding business. This position is perfect for an engineering leader who thrives on remaining close to the code while steering software delivery, application strategy, and intelligent automation.
Key Responsibilities
Hands-on Development & Architecture:
Personally design scalable backend architectures, write clean, production-grade code, and build modular component libraries to support our multi-brand digital solutions (encompassing custom applications, transactional systems, and internal workflows).
AI & Smart Application Integration: Drive the development and implementation of intelligent software features, incorporating AI programs, algorithms, or machine learning APIs to optimize user experiences and automate internal processes.
Engineering Leadership & Mentorship: Directly manage and scale an agile application development team. Cultivate a high-performing engineering culture through daily pair programming, robust code reviews, and structured technical mentorship.
Integration & Pipeline Engineering: Architect and optimize robust APIs and data workflows connecting core internal ecosystems with third-party web tools, analytics frameworks, marketing automated endpoints, and compliance layers.
Data Modeling & Analytics Infrastructure: Design structured operational data models and underlying data layers to lay the groundwork for advanced business intelligence, operational reporting, and data-driven forecasting.
Release & Engineering Excellence: Establish and oversee efficient software release workflows, enforce CI/CD application deployment pipelines, and ensure codebase security, cleanliness, and maintainability.
About You
Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a highly technical, related discipline.
Experience Profile: At least 8+ years of dedicated experience in software engineering, with a minimum of 2–3 years in a technical leadership or supervisory capacity while remaining fully hands-on with daily coding and system design tasks.
AI Development Experience: Proven track record in designing, building, or deploying AI programs/applications (e.g., LLM integration, predictive models, NLP, or smart automation tools) within commercial products.
Technical Stack Mastery: Advanced, production-level expertise in modern software engineering frameworks and languages (e.g., Node.js, React.js, Python, Java, or PHP).
Data Ecosystem Expertise: Direct proficiency in relational and non-relational database design (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis) and experience utilizing high-scale data warehouse solutions (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake) for application data.
Methodologies & Development Practices: Deep fluency in Agile frameworks (Scrum/Kanban) alongside proven practical experience with Serverless application design and software deployment automation.
Industry Background: A proven track record of delivering stable applications in high-volume, transactional B2C environments (such as Retail, Digital Commerce, FinTech, Consumer Health, or Hospitality).
Language Skills: Professional fluency in Cantonese is required for internal team collaboration.
