Air Chathams is proudly New Zealand owned and we have been operating since 1984. Our aircraft fleet and geographical reach have grown steadily and today we are New Zealand’s largest privately owned airline.
We operate two flight simulator facilities in Auckland and we are looking for a motivated individual to join our team as Technical Manager. We offer full fidelity simulation for Boeing 737 and ATR-72 500 series aircraft. The simulators are highly sophisticated and critical for training of the next generation of pilots.
About the Role
As Technical Manager, you will be overseeing the smooth running of two aircraft simulation sites, maintaining equipment to ensure uptime and ensuring compliance with industry requirements.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Ensure availability of simulators for training schedules
- Maintain simulator standards to CAA and internal standards
- Oversee, learn and perform preventative maintenance
- Oversee and conduct pre and post flight checks
- Manage engineering and maintenance documentation and records
- Manage all required simulator testing and evaluations
- Build relationships with regulatory and inspection stakeholders
- Oversee supply chain for availability of simulator parts
- Build and maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements
About You
Tertiary study in electronics, electrical engineering, avionics or a related technical field is preferred for this role. A curious mind set and strong problem solving abilities are essential and you should be comfortable working to rigorous safety and compliance standards.
You don’t need to be a pilot or have experience with flight simulators to be successful in this role and we are open to strong transferable skills from other backgrounds.
