TECHNICAL OFFICER

Job Summary

Lead and coordinate mechanical installation and maintenance teams to deliver effective Installation preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance services while ensuring safety compliance and efficient resource planning in a facilities management environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise technicians to complete rectification works efficiently and safely
  • Manage and coordinate external vendors and contractors to ensure timely and quality service delivery
  • Perform maintenance, repair, and servicing tasks on mechanical systems to maintain operational reliability
  • Execute preventive, breakdown, and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life
  • Respond promptly to defects and maintenance requests to maintain facility functionality
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols during all maintenance activities to protect personnel and assets
  • Monitor and review work progress to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met
  • Develop and maintain detailed work schedules, manpower allocation, and resource planning to optimize operations
  • Interpret engineering drawings, perform basic engineering calculations, and apply engineering codes of practice to support maintenance tasks
  • Coordinate on-site safety management systems to uphold regulatory and company safety standards
  • Perform additional ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the reporting engineer to support operational needs

Required competencies and certification

You will possess good commercial awareness, in addition to having robust technical knowledge relevant to building services design, and capable of incorporating those technologies into the hotel / hospitality and leisure sector. The position will ideally suit someone who is currently working in building service consultancy and is prepared to work ‘hands on’.

Role Responsibilities

Responsible for the running of small projects. Researches, develops, designs

and assumes responsibility for coordination and monitoring of engineering

project services for Mechanical or Electrical installations, systems, equipment,

facilities etc.

  • Develops and specifies applications of controls, instruments, and operating systems for all building engineering services purposes
  • Surveys tests and reports on existing electrical/mechanical installations
  • Specifies activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing confirm to functional specifications and customer requirements
  • Represents Company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams and contractors teams
  • Preparation of specification modifications (word or excel)
  • Ensure engineering calculations and drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards
  • Responsible for validation of Intermediate & Graduate Engineer input into designs

Role Requirements

  • BEng, and have sufficient experience
  • Degree Qualified, Licensed Engineer, MCIBSE/MIEE or HNC/HND + appropriate experience or equivalent
  • Working towards Chartered/Professional Engineer status
  • Competent in specification design/drawing for several building types
  • Sound knowledge of key Health and Safety issues and legislation
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications word, excel etc.
  • Ability to use IT based calculation and spreadsheet software
  • Good understanding of BS SC and International design codes and Standards
  • Ability to prioritize own workload
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Managerial Skills
