Technical Product Manager - Data Center
Summary
Owns the product roadmap for medium/low-voltage power distribution hardware (switchgear, transformers, UPS, busway), aligning engineering, sales, and manufacturing to deliver compliant, customer-driven solutions while managing schedules and technical documentation.
Position Summary
TECO-Westinghouse Motor Company is seeking an experienced Technical Product Manager – MV/LV Power Distribution to own the product roadmap for medium-voltage and low-voltage power distribution solutions.
This position will lead product development initiatives from concept through shipment, coordinate cross-functional engineering activities, manage customer requirements and scope changes, and define product performance, compliance, and testing requirements.
The Technical Product Manager will work closely with Engineering, Marketing, Factory Operations, Supply Chain, Service, Accounting, Sales, and customers to deliver technically sound, cost-effective, and commercially competitive power distribution solutions.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in power systems, data centers, or electrical equipment, with a solid understanding of MV/LV power distribution, NEC, UL, IEEE standards, and data center power distribution topologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the product roadmap for MV/LV power distribution, including:
- Switchgear
- Transformers
- UPS systems
- Busway
- Controls
- Develop and maintain project schedules and ensure projects remain on track from concept through shipment.
- Lead weekly design reviews and track action items through completion.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure integrated product and system designs.
- Serve as the primary customer interface for product requirements, project scope, and change management.
- Gather, document, and manage customer requirements throughout the product development process.
- Develop and maintain Product Requirements Documents covering:
- Performance requirements
- Compliance requirements
- Testing requirements
- Applicable industry standards
- Ensure products meet applicable UL, NEC, and IEEE requirements.
- Partner with Supply Chain and Manufacturing to address product cost, lead time, manufacturability, and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Support Sales and Presales activities through technical presentations and customer engagements.
- Prepare technical responses to RFPs and RFQs.
- Communicate project status, technical requirements, risks, and opportunities to internal leadership and customers.
- Coordinate daily activities and information flow across Engineering, Marketing, Factory Operations, Supply Chain, Service, Accounting, and other internal functions.
- Drive projects with a strong bias for action, accountability, and ownership.
- Ensure compliance with Company policies, ISO 9001 standards, safety procedures, and applicable workplace requirements.
- Maintain regular attendance and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, with 5+ years of related work experience; Master's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of product or project management experience in power systems, data centers, or electrical equipment.
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- Switchgear
- UPS
- Transformers
- Busway
- Power distribution systems
- Electrical controls
- Proven track record managing multidiscipline engineering projects from concept through shipment.
- Strong understanding of NEC, UL, and data center power distribution topologies.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interface with customers, engineers, senior leadership, and executives.
- Experience with modular data center or prefabricated systems preferred.
- Previous experience working with large OEMs, EPCs, or hyperscale customers preferred.

- Ability to communicate effectively with senior management, customers, trade associations, and other public groups.
Mathematical & Analytical Skills
- Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts including algebra, exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, permutations, calculus, and differential equations.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts to statistical activities including frequency distribution, test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
- Ability to use analytical and statistical tools to evaluate technical and product-related information.
Certifications
Certifications, licenses, or registrations may be required based on job responsibilities, education, and specific customer requirements.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position regularly requires standing, walking, using hands and fingers, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, as well as talking and hearing. The employee may frequently be required to climb or balance and may occasionally be required to sit.
The position may occasionally require lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The work environment includes regular exposure to vibration and frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. Occasional exposure may include wet or humid conditions, elevated or precarious locations, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually high.
