From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing extraordinary leaders who share this passion and are guided by their service to others.

This position contributes to Starbucks success by assuming end-to-end responsibility for the strategic value, usability, and performance of one or more of our digital products. We design, build, and nurture a digital ecosystem that elevates the Starbucks brand and grows our business by amplifying human connections, relationships, and experiences. As a technical product manager, senior, you will…

  • Defines product value and direction by aligning business and technical objectives, setting clear priorities, and establishing product health and performance metrics that benchmark product success.
  • Drives the technical solution for large and technically complex features independently.
  • Translates needs into buildable work by writing well-formed epics and user stories, defining acceptance criteria and non-functional requirements (performance, scalability, resilience, usability, accessibility, security, business continuity), and clarifying tradeoffs, dependencies, and constraints.
  • Drives delivery and outcomes through iterative Agile practices — partnering with design and engineering on sizing and planning, removing blockers, facilitating user review and acceptance, and measuring feature success post-launch to improve product health.
  • Manages product planning and development through day-to-day collaboration and decision making with a cross-functional team including architects, developers, designers, and business or subject matter representatives.
  • Stays abreast of new technology capabilities and applies that knowledge to product solutions; recommends and plans innovative products and features.
  • Identifies technical tradeoffs, escalates risks, and manages mitigation in collaboration with partner engineering teams.
  • Communicates effectively and independently with both technology and business teams.
  • Acts as a coach and mentor to the team across technical product management competencies.

We’d love to hear from people with\:

  • 7+ years delivering complex products in a technology environment
  • 5+ years partnering with design and engineering to deliver customer-facing features and cloud-native backend systems
  • 5+ years developing roadmaps, priorities, and feature definitions — writing and refining user stories and acceptance criteria, managing product backlogs, and reconciling conflicting requirements in a fast-paced environment across multiple stakeholder groups.

Preferred qualifications

  • Recent experience delivering web, mobile, and cloud-native enterprise systems, with the ability to read and reason about code (prior programming experience a plus).
  • Working knowledge of APIs, synchronous and asynchronous event- and message-driven architectures, data interfaces, authentication and authorization, and the integration patterns that connect distributed services.
  • Strong ability to influence without authority, communicate clearly, and stay organized across competing priorities, with deep familiarity with Agile practices and tooling.
  • Proven ability to partner with engineering and dependent teams to define requirements across services and validate transaction flows end to end.
  • Experience defining acceptance criteria and validating delivered features against stated goals in distributed, high-volume transactional systems.
