Technical Product Owner
Summary
A hands-on Technical Product Owner for a U.S. partner company who owns the product backlog and release delivery: shaping roadmaps, running Agile ceremonies, reviewing .NET/C# code, and championing responsible AI-assisted development (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code). Remote role for U.S. citizens in the Eastern or Central U.S. eligible for a security clearance.
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Technical Product Owner based in United States.
This role combines product ownership, technical leadership, and hands-on collaboration with distributed software development teams.
You’ll help shape product vision and release roadmaps while translating stakeholder needs into prioritized, actionable work.
The position offers meaningful influence over product direction, sprint execution, technical quality, and successful delivery.
You’ll work closely with developers and QA analysts, contributing to code reviews and evaluating technical and architectural tradeoffs.
The role also emphasizes modern AI-assisted development practices, including responsible use of tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code.
You’ll operate across product, engineering, security, and delivery concerns in a fast-paced environment where technical judgment matters.
This is a remote opportunity for candidates in the East Coast or Central U.S., with flexible working practices and strong professional development support.
Accountabilities:
- Partner with product leadership to define product vision, shape release plans, and align roadmap priorities with stakeholder needs and business value.
- Gather, evaluate, and prioritize feature requirements using value-versus-cost analysis, while documenting dependencies and preparing prioritized backlog items for releases.
- Break down product epics into well-defined stories with clear acceptance criteria and lead sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies.
- Own and continuously prioritize the Jira backlog, including triaging support tickets and proactively addressing bottlenecks that could affect delivery.
- Review and approve stories and bug tickets, facilitate refinement sessions, and ensure development teams have clear requirements, estimates, and acceptance criteria.
- Present feature demonstrations to stakeholders throughout the release cycle, gather feedback, and incorporate relevant input into ongoing product development.
- Participate in .NET and C# code reviews, evaluating pull requests against acceptance criteria, engineering standards, code quality, and security requirements.
- Engage in technical design discussions with engineers and understand architectural tradeoffs sufficiently to balance technical debt, reliability, security, and new feature development.
- Champion effective and responsible use of AI-assisted development tools, including establishing practical expectations for reviewing and validating AI-generated code.
- Lead product delivery activities by confirming release scope, approving quality test plans and results, and ensuring each epic meets its intended outcomes.
- Create user-facing documentation and provide hands-on support to the team to help ensure successful releases.
- Validate that delivered functionality is technically robust as well as functionally complete by reviewing test coverage, code quality indicators, and overall implementation quality.
- 6+ years of experience as a Product Owner, with a strong track record of owning software products through planning, development, and delivery.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on software development experience.
- At least 3 years of professional software development experience, or demonstrated ability to understand, review, and provide substantive feedback on production code.
- Strong technical background with a practical understanding of software engineering concepts, code review, architecture, and development workflows.
- Working proficiency in C# and the .NET ecosystem, sufficient to review pull requests and provide meaningful technical feedback.
- Experience working with Jira and Confluence and leading Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, refinement sessions, and retrospectives.
- Proven experience leading distributed development teams operating across multiple U.S. time zones.
- Familiarity with Git-based development workflows, including pull requests, branching strategies, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants or LLM-based development tools, together with sound judgment about where these technologies add value and where human review remains essential.
- Experience with Windows operating systems, including Windows Server environments.
- Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, prioritization, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to independently learn new technologies, tools, and technical concepts in a rapidly evolving environment.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a government security clearance.
- A strong understanding of secure software development practices is preferred, including SAST, DAST, dependency scanning, and security-focused code review.
- A master’s degree in Computer Science, Product Management, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Business, or a related field is a plus.
- Experience with high-assurance identity management solutions, system engineering processes, or products incorporating AI/LLM capabilities is highly desirable.
- Prior experience as a software engineer before transitioning into product management or product ownership is an advantage.
- Annual salary range of $120,000–$135,000.
- Remote work opportunity for candidates based in the East Coast or Central U.S.
- Competitive medical, dental, and vision insurance, including domestic partner coverage.
- Health Savings Account (HSA) options.
- 401(k) plan with a generous company match.
- Company-paid life, AD&D, short-term disability, and long-term disability coverage.

- Seven company holidays.
- Company-wide week-long break at the end of each year.
- Flexible working hours designed to support work-life balance.
- LifeMart employee discount program.
- Professional development opportunities and ongoing learning support.
- Opportunity to influence product strategy while working closely with engineering, QA, product, and technical stakeholders.
- Exposure to AI-assisted software development and modern engineering practices.
