Technical Program Manager Data Centers
Summary
Lead operational readiness for data center campuses, coordinating design, commissioning, and handoffs to ensure safe, compliant, and fully operational facilities.
The Technical Program Manager owns site-level operational readiness from design coordination through final turnover, coordinating construction, engineering, EHS, PMO, commissioning agents, operators, and tenants across concurrent data center projects.
Responsibilities
- Represent operations during design and pre-construction phases
- Identify and resolve design gaps affecting operational performance or safety
- Track schedules and surface operational readiness risks
- Coordinate commissioning agents, engineering, construction, and operators
- Validate commissioning outcomes against technical and operational thresholds
- Maintain commissioning records
- Assess and validate operator readiness before turnover
- Own punch-list completion and execute documented handoffs
- Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders and dependencies
- Integrate operational milestones into the master project schedule
- Ensure EHS, regulatory, and compliance requirements are addressed
- Coordinate tenant timelines, access, and operational expectations
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in data center operations, commissioning, or critical facilities program management
- Experience managing complex cross-functional programs in mission-critical environments
- Strong technical foundation in electrical, mechanical, and controls systems used in data centers
- Experience owning commissioning and turnover processes
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent sites and stakeholder relationships
- Strong communication skills
- Familiarity with OSHA, NFPA, NETA, and relevant IEC/IEEE standards is a plus
- Experience with a formal PMO structure is a plus
- Background in construction management, critical systems commissioning, or facilities engineering is a plus
