IHI Turbo America Technical Program Manager
The Technical Program Manager will lead the launch of specific turbocharger and supercharger programs. This role may be located in Shelbyville, IL or Southfield, MI.
PREREQUISITES:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline required. Master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in automotive product development, engineering, or program management.
- Experience leading automotive hardware development programs from concept through launch.
- Experience with turbochargers, superchargers, powertrain systems, engine components, thermal systems, or related mechanical products is highly desirable.
- Experience working with OEM customers and Tier-1 automotive suppliers is preferred
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Knowledge of automotive product development and launch
- Serve as the primary program interface between IHI and customer engineering, purchasing, quality, manufacturing, and program management teams.
- Lead cross-functional teams through all phases of product development from quotation and concept selection through production launch.
- Manage program scope, timing, budget, risk, and customer deliverables.
- Coordinate engineering activities related to product design, validation, supplier development, and manufacturing readiness.
- Evaluate program risks and implement mitigation plans to maintain launch timing and budget objectives.
- Ensure readiness for prototype, DV, PV, PPAP, and production launch events.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, validation plans, and manufacturing process documentation.
- Practice professional acumen when using influence and persuasiveness to hold both IHI and customer team members responsible for completing their tasks on time.
- Knowledge of industry standard program launch phase gate system and project milestones (Concept Validation, Design Validation, APQP, Process Validation, PPAP, etc.)
