Discussion

Summary

A Technical Program Manager leading complex, cross-functional engineering programs across logistics and trade technology systems — coordinating engineering, QA, DevOps, architecture, and product teams while owning release governance. Requires technical depth in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, Kafka, and AWS.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Technical Program Manager based in India.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Technical Program Manager to lead complex, cross-functional engineering programs across logistics and trade technology systems. The role combines strong program leadership with enough technical depth to understand distributed architectures, integrations, and data flows. You will coordinate engineering, QA, DevOps, architecture, product, and business teams to drive predictable delivery from planning through deployment. A key part of the role is identifying dependencies, technical risks, and blockers while helping teams navigate complex systems and integration challenges. You will also own release governance and ensure stable, well-coordinated deployments across environments. Working with globally distributed teams, you will bring structure, transparency, and execution discipline to high-impact technology programs.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of complex engineering programs, from initial planning and roadmap definition through deployment and post-release activities.
  • Define program roadmaps, support quarterly planning, align capacity and resources, and establish effective governance mechanisms.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams spanning engineering, QA, DevOps, architecture, product, and business functions to maintain alignment and delivery momentum.
  • Develop a strong understanding of data flows across microservices, backend systems, integration layers, and distributed technology environments.
  • Identify technical dependencies, architectural constraints, delivery risks, and integration challenges, developing clear mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Participate in technical discussions and collaborate with engineering leaders to help resolve bottlenecks and maintain execution progress.
  • Track delivery metrics such as velocity, throughput, cycle time, milestones, and other program indicators to improve predictability and execution efficiency.
  • Drive effort estimation, dependency mapping, resource alignment, task planning, milestone tracking, and delivery prioritization.
  • Proactively identify and remove blockers while maintaining visibility into program health, risks, and delivery commitments.
  • Own the complete release management lifecycle, including release readiness, documentation, deployment planning, coordination, and post-release hypercare.
  • Ensure release cycles are stable, structured, risk-aware, and aligned with established processes across environments.
  • Partner closely with product managers, engineering leads, architects, and business stakeholders to manage priorities, dependencies, and trade-offs.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, demos, and other program-level coordination sessions.
  • Prepare and communicate structured program updates, dashboards, risks, mitigation plans, priorities, and key decisions to stakeholders across globally distributed teams.
  • Requirements

    • 10+ years of experience in technology roles, with demonstrated experience delivering complex technology programs.
    • At least 5 years of Project Management experience and 2+ years of Program Management experience.
    • Strong technical understanding of Java and Spring Boot, with the ability to engage effectively in engineering discussions.
    • Solid understanding of Microservices architecture and distributed systems, including how data moves across services and integration layers.
    • Practical understanding of Kafka and event-streaming architectures.
    • Strong familiarity with AWS cloud environments and the technical dependencies involved in cloud-based systems.
    • Proven experience in program planning, execution management, risk management, dependency management, and release management.
    • Experience with effort estimation, resource alignment, capacity planning, milestone tracking, and delivery governance.
    • Proven ability to manage integration-heavy technology programs involving multiple teams and interconnected platforms.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify technical and delivery risks and translate them into actionable mitigation plans.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align technical and non-technical stakeholders around priorities, trade-offs, and decisions.
    • Strong leadership and collaboration capabilities, particularly in globally distributed and cross-functional environments.
    • Experience in logistics, trade, supply chain, or related technology domains is preferred.
    • Exposure to CI/CD, DevOps processes, monitoring, and alerting tools is advantageous.
    • Professional certifications such as PMP, CSM, SAFe, or similar are a plus.
    • Benefits

      • Fully remote position, open to candidates anywhere in India.
      • Contract engagement for an initial 6-month period.
      • Compensation of up to ₹180,000 per month.
      • Opportunity to lead complex, technically sophisticated engineering programs at scale.
      • Exposure to distributed systems and technologies including Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, Kafka, and AWS.
      • Collaboration with globally distributed engineering, product, architecture, DevOps, and business teams.
      • Opportunity to influence program governance, delivery predictability, and release management.
      • Hands-on involvement in logistics and trade technology systems and integration-heavy initiatives.
      • Global collaboration and exposure to complex enterprise technology environments.
      • Shift schedule aligned with business requirements and global team collaboration.
