We Are

Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.

You Are

You have spent years building PMO organizations that actually deliver, not just track status. You know the difference between a project that ships on time because the team got lucky and one that ships because someone designed the execution model to absorb the inevitable chaos. You are that someone.

Managing programs in Japan has taught you that execution excellence requires cultural fluency, not just process discipline. You understand how decisions get made, how commitments are honored, and how to build trust with customers who expect precision and follow-through. You adapt your approach to fit the context without compromising on rigor or accountability.

You are comfortable in a room with a VP who wants to know why three programs are behind schedule, and you can explain it in two minutes with a plan to fix it. You do not hide problems, you surface them early and bring solutions. Customer-facing delivery is in your DNA, so you know what it feels like when a commitment slips and exactly how to prevent it. At Synopsys, you will build and lead the PMO function for Japan. The programs are real, the customers matter, and the standard you set will define how we deliver across the country.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Act as the operational foundation for how customer programs are planned, executed, and delivered across Japan, setting the execution standard for simulation and analysis solutions
  • Build and implement PMO methodologies, governance frameworks, and best practices tailored to Japan's customer engagement models while maintaining alignment with global standards
  • Oversee a portfolio of complex customer programs and strategic initiatives, ensuring delivery commitments match resource capacity and business priorities
  • Partner with the Pipeline and Portfolio team within Professional Services to conduct resource planning, capacity forecasting, and project prioritization across Professional Services, ACE, and customer-facing delivery teams
  • Provide executive-level reporting, program health assessments, and strategic recommendations to Japan leadership and global stakeholders
  • Partner closely with Sales, Operations, Professional Services, and ACE leaders to align delivery execution with customer commitments and revenue growth
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of Project Managers at various levels, building their capability to lead complex programs and grow in their careers

The Impact You Will Have

  • You will define how Synopsys delivers customer programs across Japan, setting the standard for execution, governance, and operational excellence in one of our most strategic markets
  • Your PMO frameworks will enable distributed teams to execute consistently, reducing delivery risk and improving customer satisfaction across simulation and analysis engagements
  • You will create visibility into program health, resource constraints, and capacity planning that helps Japan leadership make better decisions faster
  • The team you build and coach will become the backbone of delivery execution in Japan, capable of leading complex, multi-stakeholder programs with precision
  • Your partnership with Sales and Operations will ensure that what we commit to customers is what we can actually deliver, reducing overcommitment and last-minute firefighting
  • You will drive a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement that raises the bar for how we manage programs nationally
  • Your work will directly influence customer retention, program profitability, and Synopsys's reputation as a trusted partner in Japan's semiconductor and EDA ecosystem

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, or a related field
  • PMP Certification, this is non-negotiable
  • 10 or more years of Program or Project Management experience, leading complex, customer-facing initiatives
  • Strong experience managing executive stakeholders and customer relationships in Japan, you have been the person in the room when things go sideways and know how to navigate them
  • Experience leading geographically distributed teams and coordinating across time zones
  • Business-level Japanese and fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with EDA, semiconductor, CAE, CAD, PLM, or digital engineering solutions is a strong plus, as is familiarity with simulation workflows and technical customer environments

Who You Are

  • You can walk into a program review, spot the risk no one is talking about, and get the team to address it without creating panic or losing face
  • You build frameworks that help people do their jobs better, not bureaucracy that slows them down or adds unnecessary overhead
  • You have managed teams in Japan and you know how to adapt your leadership style to fit the culture without losing consistency or accountability
  • You are comfortable saying no when a commitment does not match capacity, and you can explain why in a way that moves the conversation forward instead of shutting it down
  • When one program slips, you are already thinking about the downstream impact on resources, customer expectations, and the next quarter's pipeline
  • You are someone people come to when they need clarity, a decision, or a way through a messy situation, and you deliver every time

The Team You'll Be Part Of

You will report to the Senior Director, PMO and lead the Japan PMO function, working closely with Professional Services, Sales, Operations, and ACE teams across the country. This is an onsite role based in Tokyo, requiring you to be in the office 4 to 5 days per week. You will travel up to 25% within Japan to support programs, build relationships with customers and internal teams, and align execution with national priorities.

Rewards and Benefits

We offer a comprehensive range of health, wellness, and financial benefits to cater to your needs. Our total rewards include both monetary and non-monetary offerings. Your recruiter will provide more details about the salary range and benefits during the hiring process.
