A hands-on technical project manager driving the migration from CrowdStrike to Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Identity. Day to day they author and govern deployment, operational, and service-transition documentation, coordinate pilots, testing, and global rollout, then hand all artifacts over to Cyber Security at project close.
Technical Project Manager – Microsoft Defender (Endpoint & Identity)
Role Summary
The Technical Project Manager will support the technical configuration and implementation workstreams for the migration from CrowdStrike to Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE) and Microsoft Defender for Identity (MDI). This is a hands-on role focused on creating and governing all operational, deployment, and service documentation required to successfully introduce and scale the new EDR service across the enterprise.
Working closely with Cyber Security, Endpoint Management, Infrastructure, and Microsoft teams, the TPM will ensure deployment readiness, testing, rollout coordination, and production-quality documentation. At project completion, all documentation and service artifacts will be formally handed over to the Cyber Security organization for ongoing ownership.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead the creation of all technical and operational documentation required for the MDE/MDI deployment and CrowdStrike migration.
- Develop the EDR service design, operating procedures, and service transition documentation.
- Define and document RACI models, roles, responsibilities, and support processes.
- Create installation, onboarding, upgrade, rollback, and CrowdStrike removal procedures for all supported platforms.
- Document deployment methods, prerequisites, validation checks, and testing procedures.
- Define exception handling and exemption processes for unsupported or special-use cases.
- Coordinate pilot deployments, testing activities, and global rollout execution with technical teams.
- Maintain deployment runbooks, knowledge articles, process flows, and operational guides.
- Track technical dependencies, risks, issues, and deployment progress.
- Partner with the Project principal PM, Cyber Security teams, allowing them to focus on Defender architecture, policies, detection capabilities, and security operations.
Key Requirements
- Experience leading large-scale endpoint security or infrastructure deployment projects.
- Strong understanding of endpoint management and Microsoft Defender technologies.
- Proven ability to create high-quality technical documentation, service designs, and operational processes.
- Experience working across Security, Infrastructure, Workplace Services, and End User Computing teams.
