  • Engage with customers early in the vehicle development process to influence part design, material selection, and specifications.

  • Collaborate with Account Managers to identify new business opportunities and support the acquisition of new automotive programs.

  • Lead technical discussions, design reviews, and feasibility assessments with customer engineering teams.

  • Review part designs and specifications and recommend design-for-manufacturing (DFM) improvements.

  • Work with internal Engineering teams to evaluate mouldability, tooling requirements, material alternatives, and manufacturing feasibility.

  • Identify opportunities for part consolidation, lightweighting, cost reduction, and value-added solutions.

  • Support the preparation of technically sound and commercially competitive quotations and proposals.

  • Present Axiom's manufacturing capabilities and technical solutions during customer design reviews, technical days, and supplier presentations.

  • Identify emerging opportunities in electric vehicles, lightweight materials, and sustainable material technologies.

  • Prepare technical presentations, proposals, and customer engagement reports.

  • Monitor automotive technology and market trends and share relevant insights with Sales and Engineering teams.

  • Act as the primary technical liaison between customers and Axiom's internal teams.

  • Travel to customer engineering centres and Axiom manufacturing facilities across Canada, the United States, and Mexico.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng. or PE) designation is an asset.

Experience and Technical Knowledge

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the automotive industry with a Tier 1 supplier and/or OEM.

  • Experience in product design, application engineering, program engineering, or technical sales engineering.

  • In-depth knowledge of plastic injection moulding, including part design, tooling, resin selection, two-shot moulding, Class A finishes, and assembly processes.

  • Familiarity with engineering plastics and automotive resins, including PP, TPO, PC/ABS, and glass-filled materials.

  • Strong understanding of OEM product development processes, APQP, PPAP, GD&T, DFM, and DFMEA.

  • Working knowledge of CAD software such as CATIA, NX, or SolidWorks.

  • Ability to interpret mould-flow analysis and tooling data.

  • Understanding of how product design and material selection affect piece price, tooling costs, manufacturability, and profit margins.

  • An established network within OEM engineering, design, and purchasing teams is a strong asset.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent technical communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineering professionals, purchasing teams, and senior executives.

  • Strong commercial awareness and customer-focused problem-solving skills.
