Technical Sales Representative

Our client is seeking a technically minded and experienced Technical Sales Representative to support business development and customer projects within a manufacturing and engineering environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting customer requirements, preparing and revising technical drawings, developing engineered solutions, and providing technical support throughout the sales process. This role requires a strong combination of technical drawing expertise, customer engagement skills, and commercial awareness.

Responsibilities:

• Interpret customer requirements and convert concepts into accurate technical drawings and manufacturing specifications.
  
• Prepare, modify, and maintain technical drawings using CAD software to support quotations, manufacturing, and customer projects.
  
• Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and customer designs for feasibility and manufacturability.
  
• Develop cost-effective technical solutions that meet customer requirements and production capabilities.
  
• Provide technical support to customers regarding product design, materials, dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
  
• Generate detailed quotations based on technical drawings, bill of materials, and customer specifications.
  
• Conduct site visits, assessments, and measurements when required to develop accurate design solutions.
  
• Collaborate closely with engineering, production, and manufacturing teams to ensure technical requirements are achieved.
  
• Identify opportunities for product improvements, design enhancements, and value-added engineering solutions.
  
• Conduct technical presentations and discussions with customers and project stakeholders.
  
• Support new product development initiatives by preparing technical documentation and design concepts.
  
• Maintain accurate project records, drawing revisions, technical documentation, and customer correspondence.
  
• Assist with project planning, implementation, and follow-up to ensure successful project completion.
  
• Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor products to support business growth.
  

Requirements

• National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Draughting, Design Engineering, or a related technical field.
  
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a technical sales, engineering sales, draughting, design, or manufacturing environment.
  
• Proven experience producing and interpreting technical drawings and engineering specifications.
  
• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, DraftSight, or similar design packages.
  
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, materials, and engineering principles.
  
• Ability to develop, read and interpret technical drawings, assemblies, and production specifications.
  
• Experience compiling bills of materials (BOMs), costing, and technical quotations.
  
• Experience within manufacturing, engineering, fabrication, or industrial sectors will be advantageous.
  
• Valid Driver's License.
