Technical Sales Representative - Food & Beverage

Summary: The Technical Sales Representative will consistently enhance sales performance and will aim to meet or surpass the sales quota the Sales Manager sets. A key emphasis is prioritizing exceptional customer service to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty. ​This role will also strive to become a valuable knowledge resource for our Geotechnical and testing material (food & Beverage) products and uphold a commitment to excel in product support.



Accountabilities

  • Meet or exceed assigned sales and gross margin targets in assigned territory
  • Execute the communicated sales strategy to drive revenue growth and achieve departmental and organizational business objectives.
  • Provide technical expertise to customers, addressing inquiries and offering solutions.
  • Effectively communicate the technical features and benefits of products.
  • Stay updated on product knowledge, industry regulations, and market trends, as well as acquire better selling skills
  • Strive to implement the "Relationship Selling" model to foster a customer-centric sales process.
  • Develop new customer connections and expand the customer base.
  • Reporting includes:
    • Effective communication with the Sales Manager, other sales team members, as well as purchasing, finance, warehouse, service, and rental team members.
    • Utilize the company's CRM tools to track and report on sales activities.
    • Sales and related monthly forecasting and report generation
  • Strive to manage sales territory in a planned and organized manner as approved by the Sales Manager, including:
    • Cultivate and maintain support and strong relationships with existing customers.
    • Encourage pipeline growth by developing new customer connections and expanding the customer base.
    • Contribute to the development of strategies for market expansion and new market penetration
    • Identify and explore new markets and opportunities for the company’s products.
  • Strive to provide “hands-on” after-service support as needed.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and competitive products.
  • Gather and analyze customer feedback to contribute to product and service improvement.
  • Provide insights and suggestions for enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the team and organizational goals.



Working Conditions

  • Environment: Combination of office-based and work in the field, meeting clients, and attending conferences. ​
  • Disruption to Lifestyle: Regular overnight travel required up to 40%



Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: ​Bachelor of Science in biological chemistry, a degree in food-related sciences, or a Technologist 3-year Degree – Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or technical discipline related to the Food & Beverage industry, is an advantage
  • Work Experience: 3-5 years in technical sales, exposure, or involvement in the food, drugs, and cosmetics industry will be given preference
  • Experience with science lab instrumentation, and the food, drugs, and beverages industry will be given preference
  • Varied software experience, data acquisition, Office 365
  • Interpersonal Sales Skills
  • Is an effective communicator
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Effective time and organization manager
  • Relates well to people; builds effective and constructive relationships
  • Driven for sales results; goal-driven



Key Working Relationships

  • Provide regular updates on sales performance, challenges, and opportunities to the Sales and Sector Category Manager
  • Build and maintain strong Customer relationships, understanding their unique requirements and providing expert advice on instrumentation solutions.
  • Collaborate with technical Sales Associates and Product Specialists to stay updated on the latest product developments, features, and applications.
  • Coordinate with the Service & Warehouse team to ensure timely delivery, installation, and maintenance of instruments for customers.
  • Represent Hoskin Scientific Group at Industry Events, Conferences, and Trade Shows to network with potential partners, build brand visibility, and identify new business prospects.
