Technical Services Superintendent - Geology Geotech & Survey

About the Role:

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Technical Services Superintendent (Geology Geotech & Survey) is responsible for leading the site's Geology, Geotechnical and Survey functions, ensuring the delivery of technical support for a safe, efficient and well-informed mining operations.

This role provides leadership and technical oversight across geological & geotechnical modelling, grade control, survey compliance, resource optimisation and spatial data management. Working closely with Production, Mine Planning, CHPP and other operational stakeholders, you will play a key role in supporting operational performance and long-term mine planning objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor and develop the Geology and Survey teams.
  • Manage Geotechnical risks with the support of the RPEQ geotechnical Engineer.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Support workforce planning, succession planning and capability development.
  • Build strong working relationships across Technical Services, Operations and CHPP.

Technical Excellence

  • Oversee geological modelling, grade control and resource evaluation activities.
  • Ensure accurate geological interpretation and resource understanding.
  • Manage ROM reconciliation processes and coal quality outcomes.
  • Provide geological and geotechnical input into mine planning, pit design and geotechnical assessments.
  • Support stockpile quality management and coal blending strategies.
  • Maintain geological databases, models and technical systems.

Operational & Statutory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, company standards and industry best practice.
  • Support safe and efficient mine execution through accurate geological interpretation and communication.
  • Manage geological reporting requirements and resource-related documentation.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance technical processes and operational efficiency.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geotechnical / Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience within open cut coal mining operations.
  • Strong experience in geological modelling, grade control, resource evaluation and coal quality management.
  • Experience with geological modelling software such as Vulcan or similar platforms.
  • Strong leadership capability with experience leading and developing technical teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational abilities.
  • Current Open C Class Driver's Licence.
  • Standard 11 and Health Assessment (or ability to obtain)
  • S1, S2, S3 and G2 Supervisor Competencies (or ability to obtain).
