TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS ENGINEER

Provides technical support and solutions for semiconductor assembly materials (solder paste, sinter paste) across APAC, troubleshooting processes and collaborating with R&D and customers.
General Summary
The Technical Solutions Engineer is responsible for providing comprehensive technical support for Heraeus Assembly Materials products across the APAC region, including solder wire, solder paste solutions for Die Attach, SMT, and SiP modules, as well as sinter paste products.
This role serves as a key technical interface between customers, Sales, Product Marketing, and R&D, ensuring successful product implementation, troubleshooting, and application support. The incumbent leads customer-specific technical projects, delivers product and application training, and drives the development of tailored solutions to meet customer requirements.
The position also supports new product introduction activities by collaborating with Product Marketing and R&D on product specification, characterization, validation, and launch initiatives. In addition, the role manages technical escalations and complaint resolution processes through effective communication of 8D reports and corrective actions.
Working closely with Sales Account Managers, the Technical Solutions Engineer contributes to business growth by identifying and supporting new opportunities, providing pre-sales and post-sales technical consultation, and facilitating customer sample build activities through Heraeus laboratories and application support services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical and application support for Heraeus Assembly Materials products, including solder wire, solder paste, and sinter paste solutions.
- Deliver customer training on product applications, processes, and best practices.
- Lead and manage customer-specific technical projects and customized solution development.
- Support Product Marketing and R&D in product specification, characterization, qualification, and new product launches.
- Coordinate and facilitate complaint investigation and resolution processes, including communication of 8D reports and corrective actions.
- Provide technical consultation throughout the customer journey, from pre-sales evaluation to post-sales support.
- Partner with Sales Account Managers to identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities.
- Support customer sample builds, process evaluations, and testing activities through Heraeus laboratories and application support services.
- Troubleshoot process and application issues at customer sites and recommend effective technical solutions.
- Foster strong customer relationships by delivering timely, professional, and value-added technical support.
Description of Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide technical support for Heraeus Assembly Materials products across the APAC region, including solder wire, solder paste solutions for SMT and SiP modules, as well as pressure and non-pressure sinter paste products.
- Conduct data collection, testing, and characterization using laboratory equipment to evaluate product performance, identify improvement opportunities, and enhance the robustness and reliability of Heraeus assembly materials.
- Analyze technical data and propose effective solutions, process optimizations, and product improvements, working closely with internal teams and external third-party laboratory service providers where required.
- Offer technical consultation and application support to customers, advising on the selection, implementation, and optimization of Heraeus assembly materials for their manufacturing processes and product applications.
- Provide on-site customer support, including process troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem resolution, leveraging a strong understanding of Heraeus products, manufacturing processes, equipment, and process parameters.
- Collaborate with customers to identify technical challenges and recommend practical solutions that improve process efficiency, product quality, and overall manufacturing performance.
- Support product qualification, validation, and continuous improvement activities to ensure successful customer adoption and long-term satisfaction.
- Knowledge (Acquired Information Necessary to Perform the Role)
- Strong Knowledge of die attach applications, including semiconductor soldering and sintering materials, associated manufacturing processes, packaging technologies, and failure analysis methodologies.
- Working knowledge of statistical analysis and design software, including Microsoft Office, Minitab, JMP, and AutoCAD.
- Understanding of Occupational Health, Safety (OHS) requirements and Environmental Management Systems (EMS), with the ability to apply relevant standards and practices in daily operations.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.

Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in semiconductor assembly materials, with a strong focus on solder paste applications and SMT processes.
- Hands-on experience in semiconductor packaging, process development, troubleshooting, and technical support within the electronics manufacturing industry.
- Experience with power modules, System-in-Package (SiP) applications, or advanced packaging technologies will be highly advantageous.
