About the Role
We are looking for a Technical Solutions Engineer – BMS / HVAC Controls to provide technical support and solutions expertise across customer deployments, support cases, pre-sales activities, and technical escalations. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with BMS, HVAC controls, or building automation, combined with practical IP networking knowledge.
You will diagnose technical issues across BMS integrations, BACnet communications, networking, firewalls, proxies, SSL inspection, NTP, and device configuration. You will also work directly with enterprise customers, sales, customer success, deployment teams, and internal engineering. This role requires someone who can work independently through Tier 1–3 technical issues and explain complex engineering problems clearly to customers.
Responsibilities
Diagnose and resolve customer technical issues across BMS, HVAC controls, networking, and connected devices.
Troubleshoot BACnet integration issues, including point discovery, mapping, communication, and data validation.
Diagnose IP networking and connectivity issues involving DHCP, DNS, VLANs, firewalls, proxies, SSL inspection, and NTP.
Support customers with network admission and device connectivity requirements.
Investigate data-quality issues and determine whether problems originate from the device, network, BMS, or integration layer.
Manage and resolve technical customer support cases through an external support queue.
Handle routine support requests as well as complex technical escalations.
Support Sales with technical questions during the pre-sales process.
Support Customer Success with technical account-health investigations.
Support Deployment teams when technical issues arise during installations.
Assist with security questionnaires and technical customer requirements.
Communicate complex technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Document troubleshooting processes, solutions, and technical knowledge for internal use.
Provide product and engineering teams with feedback on recurring technical issues and customer requirements.
Escalate only issues that require product-level or engineering intervention, such as rare firmware or core-product defects.
Competencies and Qualifications
Must-Have
3–5+ years of hands-on experience in BMS, HVAC controls, building automation, or building controls.
Strong understanding of BACnet, particularly BACnet/IP.
Practical IP networking knowledge, including IP addressing, DHCP/DNS, VLANs, firewalls, ports, proxies, and NTP.
Experience troubleshooting technical issues independently.
Experience managing an external customer support or technical support queue.
Strong written technical communication skills.
Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to customers.
Ability to work across BMS, networking, device, and cloud-related troubleshooting.
Nice-to-Have
Experience with Niagara/Tridium.
Experience as a Master Systems Integrator or systems integrator.
Experience with Schneider Electric, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Delta Controls, Distech, Siemens, Trane, Carrier, or other major BMS platforms.
Experience with Modbus.
Experience with HubSpot, Zendesk, ServiceNow, or similar ticketing platforms.
Experience supporting enterprise SaaS or IoT products.
Experience participating in technical pre-sales calls.
Experience working with security questionnaires or enterprise IT requirements.
Hands-on exposure to the wireless and edge side (Wi-Fi constraints, LoRaWAN gateways, cellular, PoE)
Familiarity with WELL/LEED, APIs, or ticketing systems like HubSpot
