Technical Superintendent (PCTC)

Summary

Oversee technical operations, maintenance, and compliance for PCTC vessels, including dry dockings and repairs, while managing budgets and liaising with shipyards and authorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day technical operations of assigned PCTC vessels.
  • Plan and oversee dry dockings, repairs, maintenance, and major technical projects.
  • Monitor vessel performance, maintenance schedules, and operating costs.
  • Prepare and manage vessel budgets, repair estimates, and expenditure.
  • Ensure compliance with Class, Flag State, ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, and company requirements.
  • Conduct vessel inspections and provide technical support to Masters and Chief Engineers.
  • Liaise with shipyards, classification societies, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Investigate technical defects and machinery failures, implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure technical documentation and reports are maintained accurately.

Requirements

  • Chief Engineer (Class I) Certificate of Competency or Degree in Marine Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Technical Superintendent managing PCTC, Ro-Ro, or similar vessel types.
  • Previous sailing experience as a Chief Engineer is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of dry docking, planned maintenance systems (PMS), vessel budgeting, and technical procurement.
  • Good understanding of IMO regulations, ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, Class and Flag State requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ship management software.
