Technical UI/UX Designer (Contract)
Summary
A fully remote contract UI/UX Designer at Bold Penguin who designs intuitive user experiences for insurance brokers and carriers — creating wireframes, interactive mockups, and internal component libraries, running usability tests, and collaborating in agile teams with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, WordPress, and Git.
YOUR ROLE
We are looking for a UI/UX Designer who will be responsible for the user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design of our various digital assets. You’ll be responsible for delivering an outstanding user experience while providing exceptional and intuitive application design. You’ll combine user experience thinking with design execution, to produce usable and intuitive user interfaces.
WHAT YOU'LL DO

Design powerful and intuitive solutions for Brokers and Carriers

Participate in agile ceremonies such as iteration planning, retrospective, and daily standups

Proactively research possible issues affecting the availability of our platform

Collaborate with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and customers to gather and evaluate user requirements and build impactful features

Build internal component libraries that will be used across products to ensure an uncommonly great user experience

Identify and troubleshoot UX problems

Create and maintain digital assets, such as interface design files, wireframes, and interactive mockups

Optimize existing user interface designs and conduct usability testing.

This is a fully remote role, with the exception of onboarding and optional in-office events.
Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of professional experience
- Experience with Wordpress, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Proficiency in using Git version control
- Previous working experience in high-growth technology companies and/or startups
- Understanding of interaction design principles.
- Must be able to sit/stand/walk for prolonged periods of time (up to 8 hours per day), at a desk working on a computer.
- Must be able to use standard office equipment for extended periods of time, including but not limited to, a mouse, keyboard, phone and video conferencing.
