ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving technical documentation for IT software, systems, APIs, and digital products. You will work closely with developers, engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand technical requirements and translate them into well-structured, accurate, and user-friendly documentation.

The ideal candidate can understand technical concepts, gather information from subject matter experts, and communicate complex information in a simple and organized manner. You should also be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where products, systems, and documentation requirements may change as development progresses.

Experience with SaaS or cloud-based products, Agile/Scrum methodologies, knowledge management systems, and UX writing principles will be an advantage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Technical Documentation Development

• Create, write, edit, and maintain technical documentation for IT software, applications, systems, and digital products.

• Develop technical guides, user manuals, product documentation, process documents, and other supporting materials.

• Translate complex technical concepts, system processes, and product functionalities into clear, concise, and understandable content.

• Ensure all documentation is structured, consistent, accurate, and appropriate for its intended audience.

2. API and Software Documentation

• Develop and maintain API documentation to explain endpoints, parameters, request and response formats, authentication requirements, and integration procedures, as applicable.

• Document software features, technical workflows, system configurations, and product functionalities.

• Work with developers and technical teams to validate the accuracy of technical information before publication.

• Update documentation to reflect new features, system enhancements, product releases, and changes in technical specifications.

3. Collaboration with Technical and Product Teams

• Coordinate with software developers, engineers, product managers, and subject matter experts to gather relevant technical information.

• Participate in discussions to understand product requirements, technical changes, and documentation needs.

• Ask relevant questions to clarify technical processes and ensure documentation reflects actual system behavior.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure documentation is completed within agreed timelines.

4. Documentation Quality and Maintenance

• Review, proofread, and edit technical content to ensure accuracy, readability, consistency, and completeness.

• Maintain documentation standards, templates, terminology, and formatting guidelines.

• Identify outdated, unclear, or incomplete documentation and recommend improvements.

• Organize and maintain documentation repositories using appropriate documentation tools and knowledge management systems.

5. Agile Documentation and User Experience

• Work within Agile/Scrum environments to align documentation activities with product development and release cycles.

• Keep technical documentation current as requirements and software functionalities evolve.

• Apply UX writing principles to improve clarity, usability, and accessibility.

• Help users and stakeholders understand technical processes, product features, and system functionalities through effective documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in any of the following fields or a related discipline:

  • English

  • Technical Communication

  • Journalism

  • Computer Science

  • Information Technology

  • Engineering

• 3–5 years of professional experience in IT Technical Writing.

• Knowledge of API documentation tools and technical documentation practices.

• Familiarity with IT software and tools used for creating, editing, organizing, and maintaining technical documentation.

• Strong written English communication skills, including grammar, editing, proofreading, and technical content development.

• Ability to understand complex technical information and communicate it in a clear, logical, and user-friendly manner.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to documentation accuracy.

• Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Good organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple documentation requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates with any of the following experience or qualifications will have an advantage:

• US Healthcare Industry Experience: Familiarity with healthcare-related systems, software, processes, or technical documentation in a US healthcare environment.

• SaaS and Cloud-Based Products: Experience documenting cloud-based applications, software-as-a-service products, or digital platforms.

• Agile/Scrum Methodologies: Understanding of Agile software development practices and experience working with product teams throughout development cycles.

• UX Writing Principles: Knowledge of user-centered writing techniques that improve clarity, navigation, and usability.

• Knowledge Management Systems: Experience maintaining documentation repositories, internal knowledge bases, or centralized documentation platforms.

• Relevant Certifications: Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC) or ICAgile Certified Professional (ICP). These certifications are a plus, not a mandatory requirement.
