Technical Writer - Editor

The VA Office of Research and Development (ORD) Rehabilitation Research and Development (RRDT)Center for Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES Center) is dedicated to advancing rehabilitation treatments that utilize modulation of the nervous system through functional electrical stimulation (FES)and optical stimulation. This position is Not to Exceed 1 year, but can be extended up to 4 years.

Duties: Duties may include, but are not limited to: Develops training programs increasing success rates for pre and post doctoral fellows and trainees. Write and edit a variety of complex scientific grant proposals, journals, manuscripts using a substantial knowledge of medical science, research, and related fields. Creating social media and website content; social media posts, videos, etc. explaining research programs, process and technologies. Writes, edits, and coordinates research proposals. Interviews professional and technical professionals. Prepares post-funding reports, analysis, and analytics. Develops training programs increasing success rates for pre and post doctoral fellows and trainees. Understanding publishing, journal and media concepts, practices, standards for science publications Manages submissions to scientific publications by meeting with Investigators to understand the research advancements and goals of the publication. Interpret and explain a variety of technical subjects, and write or edit materials tailored to specific media and audiences using a strong knowledge of publishing concepts, practices, standards, and technologies for the media. Prepare ORD Annual Report, Report to the Community and presentations highlighting Center accomplishments and achievements. Coach and assist investigators during article writing, managing references, advising on content and submission requirements This position is Not to Exceed 1 year, but can be extended up to 4 years.
