Technical Writer II
Summary
Creates technical documentation like test plans and reports for military/aerospace systems, translating complex procedures into clear procedures and SOPs.
The Technical Writer is responsible for executing the following essential functions in support of contract mission.
Essential Functions
- Apply knowledge of test procedures, military standards (MIL-STDs), military specifications (MIL-SPECs), military performance specifications (MIL-PRFs), etc. as well as aerospace and other relevant standards in order to produce technically oriented documentation that meets technical writing principles, and customer standards.
- Plan, develop, organize, write, and edit technical documents, including but not limited to test plans, test reports, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and related documents to communicate complex, technical information.
- Assist engineers in recording detailed procedures for test and evaluation operations.
- Verify completeness of test data.
- Compile and manipulate test data, information, and results into test reports.
- Collaborate with and assist teams of engineers and technicians in product and documentation requirements by quickly grasping complex technical concepts and translating them into readily understandable narrative and illustrations.
- Write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences.
- Monitor test and projects technical documents progress through the review process
Required Education and Experience
- BA/BS in English, Communications, or related disciplines from an accredited college/university
- 2+ years’ experience in technical writing
