Technical Writer

The Technical Writer is responsible for authoring and maintaining documentation for the Command and Control Processor program. They will play a supporting role in achieving the organizations goals by developing standardized documentation templates across the C2P project, working hand-in-hand with the Configuration Management team to ensure that CM standards are upheld, and updating documentation as new project capabilities are realized. This position will directly impact program usability through delivering comprehensive user-friendly Software User Manuals and play an important role in providing other documentation to program stakeholders.


CORE FUNCTIONS / JOB DUITES

Able to perform the following, with some supervision:

Create, review, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including user manuals, installation guides, and API documentation

Collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, and product managers to gather and understand complex technical information

Translate technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly content for diverse audiences

Develop and implement content strategies to improve overall documentation quality and user experience

Manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards

Conduct usability testing and incorporate user feedback to enhance documentation effectiveness

Maintain and update internal documentation libraries and knowledge bases


SKILLS & ABILITIES

Has a basic knowledge of:

Writing, editing, and proofreading skills with meticulous attention to detail

Documentation tools

Version control systems and collaborative writing platforms

Project management and organizational skills

Interpersonal and communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration

Complex technical concepts and explain them clearly to non-technical audiences

Image manipulation using Microsoft Visio or Photoshop

Linux operating systems


EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

GED and/or equivalent years of experience

The ability to work non-standard work hours and schedules in support of project requirements.


PAY RANGE

$80,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually, DOE


U.S. Citizenship is Required


SECURITY CLEARANCE

Candidates must have an active clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
