Technician

We are seeking a hardworking individual to join our consulting group based in Tucson, AZ. The position is with our vibrating wire piezometer installation team doing the following:

  • Travel to mine sites and work with drill crews to install specialty geotechnical and hydrogeology instruments in drill holes including vibrating-wire piezometers and TDR cable at various sites mostly in Arizona and in the western US.
  • Field work will include site characterization, drillhole stability assessment and downhole equipment installation, geologic and geotechnical mapping, and geomechanical core logging.
  • Data collecting and processing of downhole installed equipment and data reduction.
  • Technical documentation and reporting of field data and analysis work.
  • Must be willing to travel 50-75% of the time. All field work will be outdoors in varying environments.
  • Willing to do alternating shift work as needed. Work on-call shifts.
  • Communicate with clients and geologic drillers to educate on procedures and solve problems. Maintain DOT driving and project labor records.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering, mechanical, or technical field, such as military service, maintenance, fabrication, civil construction, or a similar hands-on industry. We are willing to train the right candidate.
  • Demonstrated integrity, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently in remote locations on high-value projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel, including modifying worksheets, editing formulas, creating charts, and analyzing data.
  • Comfortable using a variety of hand tools and battery-powered tools safely and effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with an engineering mindset and the ability to lead and work effectively within a team.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) medical examination.
  • Flexibility to work day or night shifts based on project requirements.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred

  • Undergraduate coursework or degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field.
  • Experience driving work trucks and operating light trailers.
  • Hands-on experience using a wide variety of hand tools and battery-powered tools.
  • Experience performing outdoor field work in varying weather and environmental conditions.
  • Previous shift work experience and flexibility to work day or night shifts as needed.
  • Experience training, mentoring, or supervising others.
  • Experience working in a service-based business or customer-focused environment.

Starting Pay

$25–$30 per hour, depending on prior experience and education.
