Technician (Dormitory in Changi East)
Summary
Perform hands-on maintenance and repairs for dormitory systems including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and sewage treatment plants, ensuring safety and operational reliability.
We are looking for a Technician to carry out general repair, maintenance and troubleshooting works at our dormitory premises. Candidates with practical handyman, building maintenance or facilities maintenance experience are welcome to apply.
The Technician will be responsible for supporting the operation, inspection, maintenance and repair of the dormitory’s mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, including the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), generator sets and other supporting infrastructure. The role involves carrying out routine maintenance, attending to defects and coordinating with contractors or specialist vendors where required to ensure that the building services and critical systems remain safe, reliable and operational.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance for electrical, mechanical, plumbing and building services systems
- Operate, monitor and carry out routine inspections of the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), ensuring compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements
- Operate and maintain generator sets, including routine testing, fuel monitoring, servicing coordination and emergency power activation
- Conduct troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems, including lighting, distribution boards, switchgear, pumps and related equipment
- Maintain, repair and replace plumbing systems, sanitary fittings, drainage systems and water supply infrastructure
- Conduct routine inspections of dormitory facilities and identify defects, abnormalities or safety hazards
- Coordinate with contractors and service providers for maintenance, servicing and repair works
- Maintain maintenance records, equipment logs, inspection reports and work orders
- Support water tank cleaning, disinfection and maintenance activities in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, power failures, STP alarms, plumbing emergencies and other operational incidents
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety procedures, permit-to-work requirements and operational standards
- Support emergency response and business continuity operations during system failures and critical incidents
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor or Management
Requirements
- NITEC, Higher NITEC, ITE Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Facilities Management or a related discipline
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in M&E maintenance, preferably in dormitories, industrial facilities, institutions or large-scale residential developments
- Experience in operating or maintaining sewage treatment plants, water treatment systems, generator sets and pumping systems will be an advantage
- Good knowledge of electrical, plumbing and building services systems
- Familiarity with workplace safety requirements and maintenance procedures
- Ability to read technical drawings, maintenance manuals and equipment specifications
- Basic computer literacy for maintenance reporting and record keeping
- Spoken and written English for work-related communication
- Ability to communicate in additional languages such as Tamil, Bengali, or Mandarin is an advantage to support effective communication with dormitory residents from diverse backgrounds.
- Physically fit and able to perform hands-on maintenance work, including after-hours emergency response duties when required
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving and teamwork skills
