Summary

Creates 2D/3D CAD models and drawings for geotechnical and structural civil projects using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Leapfrog, coordinating with teams in India and New Zealand.

As a “Technician – Geotechnical”, you will be working with our NZGCC business, primary role as an AutoCAD & Civil 3D Drafter/Modeller for Civil/Infrastructure related projects with specific experience in Geotechnical & Structural drafting. The suitable candidate shall also be proficient in developing Geological sections in AutoCAD and modelling in “Leapfrog” with hands on experience in global Geotech & Geology digital logging platforms such as Core GS, gINT. The role involves close coordination with design engineers and digital teams across India and New Zealand, supporting project delivery through high quality CAD 3D modelling outputs with support in Geology & digitization.
The “Technician” will take ownership of 2D & 3D modelling, drafting, preparation & digitization of geotechnical & geology data. Primary experience shall be in civil/infrastructure projects including Transport, Major highways, Bridges, Riverbank works, Geotechnical, Structural drafting and detailing of Earth retaining structures, Slope protection works, Civil3D Earthwork quantification and Bridge structural drawings (including Steel Structures in TEKLA).
Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining 2D drafting, Civil 3D producing layouts, profiles, long-sections, and detailed drawings, and ensuring compliance with provided standards, digital requirements and project specifications. The focus is on delivering accurate, coordinated, and construction ready CAD deliverables that meet client and project expectations.

• Deliver high-quality Civil 3D-based CAD outputs for all Civil/Infrastructure related projects in Geotechnical & Structural space.
• Prepare accurate 2D drawings & 3D models using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, including plan layouts, long sections, profiles, corridors, cross-sections, and construction-ready drawings.
• Develop and manage Civil 3D models, for geotechnical & earthwork related projects.
• Generate design documentation such as general arrangements, detailed layouts, longitudinal sections, levels, and coordinated drawings suitable for construction and tender purposes.
• Produce quantity take-offs, schedules, and material estimates directly from Civil 3D models to support design and cost planning activities.
• Prepare Geological sections in AutoCAD and other global, widely used digital platform in Geotechnical Engineering
• Prepare Ground models in Leapfrog, bore hole sections & ground profile
• Support in digitization, geotechnical factual reports, excel work & related tasks
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams (civil, structural) to deliver integrated and constructible design solutions.
• Liaise with New Zealand / ANZ project teams to support cross-regional delivery, ensuring adherence to NZ/AU standards and digital delivery requirements.
• Review and check drawings and models to ensure compliance with WSP standards, client specifications, and applicable design codes and regulations.
• Take ownership of CAD delivery for packages or projects, contributing to technical discussions, coordination reviews, and design development.
• Apply and maintain QA/QC processes, ensuring accuracy, consistency of all deliverables.
• Provide regular updates on progress, risks, and resource requirements to line management.

Required Technical and Soft Skills
• Strong experience in Auto CAD & Civil 3D modelling for Geotechnical & Structural related
• Ability to develop layouts, long sections, profiles, cross-sections, and grading designs aligned with engineering inputs and project requirements.
• Strong understanding of digital delivery workflows, CAD standards, particularly aligned with NZ/AU/UK standards.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, survey data, design reports, and specifications accurately.
• Experience working in multi disciplinary and cross regional project environments.
• Strong communication, coordination, and collaboration skills, with a professional approach to design reviews and stakeholder engagement.
• High attention to detail, quality focus & ability to manage multiple priorities within deadlines.
• Proactive, self driven, and solution oriented mindset, with willingness to adopt new technologies and develop cross disciplinary knowledge.

Software Proficiencies
• Demonstrated advanced hands-on expertise in AutoCAD Civil 3D & coordination is a critical requirement for this role.
• Experience & understanding of Geotechnical, Geological & Structural aspects is mandatory
• Experience in assessment & logging of field investigation data/Geology is an advantage
• Experience in global geotechnical logging platform such as Core GS & gINT is preferred
• Understanding & hands on work experience in “Leapfrog” models is preferred.

• Minimum qualification is ITI/Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree (B. Tech or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline is an advantage
Experience
• Minimum 6 years of proven experience in Civil/Infrastructure projects in geotechnical & Structural detailing
• Proven experience in AU/NZ projects is highly preferred, with additional exposure to UK, US, or Middle East projects considered an advantage.
