Key responsibilities

  • Attend to power and desalination plant field instrumentation breakdowns and planned maintenance work with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Technically assess the requirements of allocated jobs and select the necessary tools and equipment to complete assigned work.
  • Utilize the computerized maintenance system to order spare parts from the warehouse and maintain records of all maintenance work completed.
  • Ensure that all maintenance work is executed in accordance with safety procedures and plant operational requirements. Report repeated breakdowns and assist in root cause failure analysis to identify optimal solutions.
  • Provide on-the-job training to new craftsmen, equipping them with the skills required to carry out maintenance and repair work as planned.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications

  • Higher secondary education or diploma.

Minimum experience

  • Familiarity with all maintenance tools and strong knowledge of plant safety.
  • Previous experience gained from working in a power or desalination plant, with exposure to the maintenance and calibration of field instrumentation, including:
    • Pressure, temperature, level, and flow measuring devices
    • Pneumatic and hydraulic valve actuation systems
    • CO2 fire protection systems
    • Infrared gas detection systems
  • Capability to work under time and technical pressure, with awareness that errors may cause equipment damage, delays, or personnel injury.
  • Willingness to undertake shift duty and be available for call-outs to attend to breakdowns.
  • Ability to stay updated with new technologies and control concepts; comfortable working in hot, dirty environments and at high platforms.

Skills

  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and manuals.
  • Knowledge and experience with electrical, electronics, computer, hydraulic, and pneumatic devices.
