Technology Manager
Description
Being good neighbors – helping people, investing in our communities, and making the world a better place – is who we are at State Farm. It is at the core of how we operate and the reason for our success. We're moving with urgency to become a Next Gen Good Neighbor, with technology that strengthens human connections and enhances the customer experience. As an employee, you'll spend less time navigating systems and more time applying judgment, empathy, and expertise in the moments that matter most.
Responsibilities
Lead Our Talent & Performance Technology Capabilities and Help Unlock the Power of AI! Are you a people-focused technology leader who knows how to turn AI capabilities into practical value for your team and business partners? If so, let’s connect!
You’ll shape how thousands of State Farm employees and leaders experience growth, coaching, and career development — and help define what future-ready, AI-enabled HR&D looks like. Along the way, you’ll grow your own leadership impact, partnering across HR&D and technology teams and building expertise at the forefront of AI in the workplace. Workforce Technology within Human Resources & Development (HR&D) delivers the platforms that help State Farm attract, engage, develop, and value its talent. As a visionary, collaborative Technology Manager, you will lead the people and products behind our Performance Enablement, Talent & Succession, Leadership Development, and AI Coaching capabilities. You’ll own the full product lifecycle, apply design thinking to create seamless digital experiences, and partner with our AI Strategy and Enablement Team to help the business Automate, Augment, and ultimately Predict, building a culture of trust, continuous feedback, and data-driven talent decisions aligned to HR&D priorities such as Talent Mobility.
The Capabilities You’ll Lead
• Performance Enablement: Performance management, continuous feedback, and employee listening capabilities that use performance analytics to address performance gaps early and strengthen manager effectiveness.
• Talent & Succession: Succession, career, and skills capabilities that build transparent, future-ready talent pipelines, using predictive analytics and workforce planning to anticipate skill shifts, identify gaps, and support talent mobility.
• Leadership Development: AI-enabled learning and leader development capabilities that build leadership strength at every level and connect learning with performance and talent processes.
• AI Coaching: AI-powered coaching capabilities that provide personalized, on-demand coaching to strengthen manager effectiveness and accelerate leader development.
Your Role & Responsibilities:
• Lead and develop the team: Hire, coach, develop, and performance manage the team delivering these capabilities, fostering engagement, accountability, continuous learning, and AI fluency.
• Set strategy and priorities: Develop the 1–2 year roadmap and operational plans for performance and talent technology, aligned to HR&D strategy, and manage resources, priorities, and goals for the team.
• Own products and drive digital experience: Own the product portfolio across the full lifecycle, from discovery through retirement, and apply design thinking to create a cohesive, intuitive digital experience.
• Deliver and enable solutions: Oversee delivery, adoption, and continuous improvement of these capabilities, measuring impact and providing guidance, training, and support to business units and HR&D teams.
• Identify and advance AI opportunities: Help the team and business partners find where AI can Automate, Augment, and Predict. Partner with the AI Strategy and Enablement Team to research and recommend solutions, coordinate projects, and move ideas to adoption within enterprise AI governance.
• Act as liaison, foster collaboration, and manage vendors: Serve as the primary point of contact between business partners, vendors, and Enterprise Technology on configurations, security, integrations, data retention, and interface timing, and manage SaaS vendors to evolve capabilities and mitigate risk.
• Use people analytics to inform decisions: Partner on the quality and availability of performance, talent, and skills data, and create, analyze, and present insights that support informed talent decisions.
• Monitor effectiveness and simplify: Assess performance and adoption; design, validate, and maintain tools, processes, and programs; and continuously challenge what we do, how we do it, and what we should stop doing.
• Communicate and navigate complexity: Explain technology and AI topics in clear business terms to technical and business audiences, and lead through ambiguity and competing priorities across divisions.
