Telecommunications Technical Officer
Due to ongoing growth in infrastructure rollout projects,
Rockford Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Telecommunications Technical
Officer.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the
installation, upgrade, commissioning, integration, and testing of 4G and 5G
base station equipment across multiple vendor platforms. This includes
microwave transmission gear and network termination units (NTUs) for various
carriers. The role involves on-site support during outages, assisting riggers
with installation and termination of hybrid trunk cables and coaxial
feeders/tails, and performing testing such as sweeps, PIM, and fibre testing.
The position also requires accurate collection and submission of handover
documentation in line with client specifications.
Main tasks for the role
- Install,
test, maintain, and repair telecommunications equipment and infrastructure
- Perform
upgrades and commissioning of BTS and microwave systems
- Liaise
with rigging teams to coordinate physical installation schedules
- Conduct
signal testing and diagnostic assessments
- Compile
and submit handover documentation and reports to project stakeholders
- Ensure
compliance with safety and quality standards on-site
Skills
- Experience
with Ericsson and Nokia telecommunications equipment
- Strong
understanding of 4G/5G and microwave transmission systems
- Proficiency
in fibre, coaxial, and hybrid cable testing (including PIM, DTF, sweep,
OTDR)
- Ability
to read and interpret technical plans and site drawings
- Strong
troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Good
written documentation and reporting skills
Qualifications and experience
Candidates should have a relevant diploma or certificate in
telecommunications or electronic engineering. A minimum of 3 years’ experience
in mobile network infrastructure installation, particularly with BTS and
transmission systems, is essential. Experience with carrier-specific rollout
procedures will be highly regarded.
