About the Role
Gridcom Pty Ltd is seeking a qualified and experienced
Telecommunications Technician to install, maintain, test, and repair
telecommunications equipment and systems.
The role involves working on telecommunications networks,
transmission systems, cabling, and associated infrastructure. The successful
candidate will work across multiple sites and ensure all work complies with
industry standards and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Installing,
upgrading, and integrating telecommunications equipment and systems
- Installation,
upgrading and integration of Ericsson, Huawei, and Nokia BTS hardware
- Commissioning
and working with microwave (MW) transmission technologies
- Installing
and terminating telecommunications cabling (copper, fibre optic, and
coaxial)
- Testing,
optimisation, and performance analysis of mobile/cellular and ethernet
networks
- Fault
finding and rectification of faults on telecommunications network
hardware, systems, and associated equipment
- Performing
routine inspections and preventative maintenance
- Interpreting
technical drawings, schematics, and specifications
- Using
specialised test equipment (e.g. PIM, fibre, antenna systems, ethernet
testers)
- Ensuring
all work complies with safety standards, codes, and client requirements
Skills
- Strong
fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Understanding
of hybrid and RF systems and associated installation principles
- Knowledge
of telecommunications cabling and transmission systems
- Solid
understanding of carrier build and installation standards (e.g. Telstra,
Optus, NBN, Vodafone)
- Ability
to read and interpret technical drawings, construction plans, and
documentation
- High
attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Intermediate
to advanced computer literacy
- Strong
communication and teamwork skills
- Ability
to work independently and manage workloads across multiple sites
Experience
- At
least 2–3 years of relevant industry experience as a Telecommunications
Technician
- Experience
installing, commissioning, and integrating telecommunications systems
across multiple technologies
- Experience
working with mobile network infrastructure and transmission systems
- Experience
in field-based roles across multiple project sites
- Experience
using telecommunications test equipment and diagnostic tools
Qualifications
- Relevant
qualification in Telecommunications (Certificate III, IV, Diploma, or
equivalent)
- Valid
Australian Driver’s Licence
- Construction
Industry White Card
- Working
at Heights and Tower Rescue (preferred but not essential)
- RF
Awareness Training (preferred)
- First
Aid and CPR certification (preferred)
Licences & Requirements
- Willingness
to travel regularly across QLD and Northern NSW
- Ability
to work flexible hours as required
- Strong
commitment to workplace health and safety (HSE) and quality assurance
practices
- Flexible,
reliable, and able to work both independently and within a team
- Rigging
qualifications are advantageous
